Oh yes, it's definitely Jewish. That why the Socialist Worker/PLO-supporting rentamob frequently picket Manchester M&S.

Conforming to stereotypes, we all know Jews will sell anything, if there's a profit in it.:D

I once worked with Mark Sieff, one of the sons of the family who still part own M & S, what a prat he was.

I think you'll both find I'm referring to Mothers day, probably one of the biggest national holidays celebrated during Hitlers reign.

England's Mother's Day observance goes back to the 13th century when "Mothering Sunday" was observed on the fourth Sunday of Lent (because it was originally for Mary, mother of Christ).

Mother's Day and Muttertag

Our little celebration predates Hitler's Muttertag by 700 years.;)

Just as the swastika goes back centuries but how many of you would comment negatively if i had one tattooed onto my arm or waved a flag with one on.

The problem with this nation is that is contradicts its views to often. You cant use the symbol of the swastika without being called a nazi regardless of the fact its used so widely in religion, yet days that the nazi's loved are fine by us.

Is it not what people are trying to argue here with this issue? Its fine to not touch something if your hands are literally dirty but if they are dirty in a religious sense then its not ok.

Brits just hate religion clearly, otherwise they wouldn't have double standards. Nor would they go on about england being a christian nation whenever a religious issue arises yet its probably the only distinctive secular religion in the country.

What's a secular religion?

WE had mother's day long before Hitler did and just because he loved it doesn't mean we shouldn't continue with our very British tradition.

a secular religion is one that is losing followers, effectively 'dying out'.

It isn't british, its international, just like the swastika is. Mothers day didn't originate from England, it originated from greece or somewhere like that.

I don't think I even know of any proper british traditions... other than full english breakfast... and who even has time to eat that every morning

Precisely! It isn't Nazi or German or invented by Hitler. In Britain, where it has been celebrated for centuries, it's a British tradition.

Swastikas have been used for centuries. I remember a member of the forum using one as his avatar and he got told to change it regardless of his reason for using it. Nobody shut up until he complied.

How can you differentiate between the following of a holiday and the use of a symbol... oh wait, swastikas aren't a 'british' tradition are they. I forgot about the tradition of xenophobia in this country.

Well I've only just started criminal law, and it doesnt quite come under any of the topics we cover, and as I dont intend on studying it further in the next years I may never know.

I shall ask a friend, although I cant see it being a crime...

It's nothing to do with xenophobia. You are just being plain silly. Mother's Day was celebrated here before, during and after the war with Nazi Germany as you very well know. If we went to war with another country which celebrated birthdays would that mean in your twisted view of logic that we should all stop celebrating birthdays?

Not a law student but yes it is a crime to be anti British, it is however a touchy area of law because of human rights acts. We as a country no longer actually recognise the human rights acts of the EU in order to get around a few things though.

It is a crime under the anti terror laws which govern inciting racial hatred.
