Suspended for drinking... shandy
Boy suspended from school for drinking lemonade shandy in playground | the Daily Mail
Being suspended for one day for drinking a can of shandy at school. The school has a zero tolerance for alcohol being in school. The shandy was 0.5% alcohol. I used to drink shandy when i was a kid - it was my treat when dad took us to KFC at salmesbury - a can of topdeck shandy. Never took it into school though. Why make a big fuss about it though. Contacting his mum saying he cant drink shandy in school might have been better. |
Re: Suspended for drinking... shandy
heard about this on the radio:rolleyes:
ok, so its got alcohol in it,.....so what!...i would understand if it was a bottle of vodka or summat, but it was shandy and it is sold in the pop section in most shops, it dont say over 18 only on the can, so i dont know what the big deal is:rolleyes: i remember when my daughter went to buy a can of that panda shandy at co-op and she wouldnt serve her, says she had to be over 18!!!......since when? lol, bloody laughable. |

Re: Suspended for drinking... shandy
I thought it was a bit over the top until I read the line :
"The can states clearly that the drink is made with real beer" So the school has zero tolerance, so in my eyes its tough but thats the way it is. Put another way if he (could) drink enough to be over the drink drive limit (yes I know he`s only 15 but hypothetically) would you let him off if he got stopped ? I blame the mother...She bought it so should have checked and the made with real beer is a bit of a giveaway (even if it wasnt true) |

Re: Suspended for drinking... shandy
The minute part of it that is beer is probably the only part remotely nutritious - rest is sweetened water.
I dont understand why people buy such stuff - we eat and drink to be 'nourished' - that sort of stuff is expensive yet does nothing. |

It is legally sold to children because it may have 'a' flavour but it doesn't have the effect! No matter how many lies the Mother is telling about her age, both she and her child have a perfect right for that product to be included in his lunch break meal. How many of us, would look wonderful when photographed suddenly by the press? :( |
Re: Suspended for drinking... shandy
I agree with the school on this one. Zero tolerance means zero tolerance.
Why does this woman think that the rules don't apply to her and her son? Why can't she just accept that instead of running to the media? |
