I feel sorry in general for those who have been left disappointed, dont get me wrong, particularly if your child didn't even get into their second choice, but I find it hard to feel sorry for someone who is annoyed at where their child got put when they only put one choice down. Surely its common sense to know that schools can get oversubscribed and they cant have everybody, so it's wise to put in a security choice?

How can you complain if you dont put down other preferences? It basically just looks like you dont care where you get put if you dont get into the first choice.

Re: Secondary School Admissions for September

Sounds like a lot of people didn't get their first choice this year, a friend of mine put Haslingden down for her daughter, they live near me and their daughter is at Peel Park same as Kelsey was, yet she hasn't got in, she has her second choice of Hollins.....odd.
They are appealing against it as she has family at Haslingden.
Also been told that BRGS have changed their admission policy, previously the child sat the entrance exam and you had to put BRGS down as your first choice before the exam results came out meaning that if the child then failed the exam you had wasted your first choice and other schools don't look too favourably on not being first choice !
Now you get the exam results before the forms have to go back, hence the huge influx of kids trying to get into Hassy high !

I'm 19 Howarth, and whilst I am from the local area, I do not conform to the social norms...

Sorry if I'm not enough of a chav to share the same views as the rest of the population.

My point was more along the lines of the population who fall into my age group. The majority of the people I know from school now have children, some got pregnant whilst still in school.

Though yes, fascist chavs does sum up a lot of people on this forum :p
