Isnt being locked up when you have children a case of child abuse?

not at all, i reckon she's in the best place as far as Shannon is concerned, the childs away from its 'mother' and she'll probably have a better life for it

So what your saying polly is that mothers should have a get out of jail free card, I don't think so, mothers should think of the consequences before they break the law and if their crime warrants jail then so be it, its their own fault and no one else's

I agree. That does seem rather skewed logic.

Would Myra Hindley have been spared jail if, God forbid, she'd had a child?

Anyway, I thought parents were supposed to have equal responsibility/rights?

Would some people think it 'abuse' for a child to be missing a parent, if it was the Dad banged up, and not the mother?

No, locking children up is child abuse.

Shannon was drugged, kidnapped and stashed away in a divan in the hope that this would get her mother £50,000. A scheme dreamt up by her mother.

That's child abuse and Karen Matthews more than deserves to be sent down.

I think Polly's comment has been misinterpreted.

If I commit a crime against someone- serious enough to be locked up for it if caught- then there's a very strong chance it is premeditated. If I plan that crime despite having a child, then I'm risking him becoming a victim of the crime as well as my intended target. That dismissive attitude toward my responsibilities is a form of child abuse (in my very humble opinion).

It is obvious that this lady is not fit to have children in her care.
The children have been taken away from her with good cause.
The child abuse that these children suffered was not of the the making of the authorities but of the mother.
She should never in my opinion be allowed to control or parent any child in the future.
