I know!! Thats why I will be ringing them on monday, we have already spent £950 on some of the important stuff, the stuff we couldnt do without, and are now in limbo, one item in particular is £800 minimum, just my luck to replace it and then get the original back. grrrrr

Well, I have revived this thread because, you guessed it, bought another van recently, and before we have made any security measures, it has been broken into, and it was in rossendale again, fortunately, they didnt get anything this time, because we empty tools off them now if they are not secure, but they still damaged every lock, and it is costing £350 for armaplate again to cover the holes and secure the van!

What sort of van is it derek?

its a mercedes vito, the other one which got broken into is a sprinter, far be it from me to teach people how to do what they do to get in, but there is a weak point on mercedes vans (and some others), fitting armaplate sorts it out, but isnt cheap.

Cheaper than the tools are to replace I would guess.

Oh yes, £3000 last lot cost us, plus the armaplate at another 300, because we emptied the tools out, is just the 350 this time for armaplate, is mostly very annoying, and given your work at rhyddings, I know you know what I mean Neil!

Don't you have a sign saying "No tools left in this van overnight"? I don't know if they are effective. I remember hearing an apocryphal story that someone came back to their similarly labelled car to find the window smashed and a sign under theirs saying "Just checking"

Well that made me smile but I bet derek isn't. Reminds me of when I was younger and was in the Bridge on Church Street, a bloke put a sign on his glass when he went to the loo, it said, I've spit in this drink, when he came back some had written under it, so have I:D

Re: Vehicle break in.

The signs on vans saying no tool left overnight would make them break in twice in rossendale, they would never believe anything on a sign like that, it would probably be better to put one on saying 'free tools', lol And before anybody defends rossendale, we have had 2 break ins and one attempted in rossendale, 1 in bury, 1 in accy (sat nav through the window, but not tried the doors)!
