Public Transport and Yobs

We were the other day disscussing how a child had managed to 'Sneak' on a bus without the driver noticing.
How far do we expect the drivers to go and what their responsibilities are?
The driver is responsible for driving the bus in a safe manner and to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and fit to drive,to ensure passengers get to their destination safe and well whilst in his care. His remit also includes taking cash on the companies behalf and looking after that money.
How far should the responsibily go?
I have just read an article link below about a driver dealing with yobs....I think he deserves a medal?
Just have a look at the list of weapons this lot had.

Personally, I wouldn't want to do any job (bus driver, train ticket inspector etc) that involves dealing with the general public in the United Kingdom. Because, sadly, there is now a significant minority of the British public who are nothing more than sub-human scum. And, even more sadly, politicians of both the Labour and Tory persuasion, do not have the guts to deal with them. So, yes, the driver does deserve a medal. But, more importantly than that, he, along with everyone else in a similar position deserves protection.

We need some radical ideas on fixing society.

This driver was lucky that the police were on hand, god only knows what the outcome would have been otherwise. Would hate to have a job in the public sector these days!!!

It's amazing, isn't it that some (and I do mean 'some') youths have no respect for these bus drivers who are just doing a job to take them to their destination safely from A > B.

Gosh Royboy, when an Inspector boarded a bus (like yerself), they were the front line of authority and you would not say boo to a goose when they were there.

In my opinion, still all comes down to parenting. (sorry, cliche type thing, but 'tis the roots at the end of the day)

despite tony blairs and gordon browns best efforts i can still afford to run my car so such matters do not yet concern me but if you act like a yob on public transport then you should go to jail where you can then see how long you survive acting like a yob in public showers

I actually feel sorry for the elderly people that have to use public transport this day and age, especially with the knuckle draggers that are knocking about these days, I just dispare ever time I watch the news now with just what is going on in our country, yet the only answer the government can come up with is more and more legislation, we're all going to hell on a hand cart as someone once said:eek:

Maybe the answer would be to ignore the wishy washy, bleeding hearts and give the police power to deter these thugs.
Simple rules really, you carry a knife with intent (we are not talking chefs here) 5 Years minimum, Guns, 10 years, screwdrivers, baseball bats etc, 3 years. As long as they are old enough to carry these weapons, they are old enough to do real time, in a real prison.

Lets bring the birtch back in, get coppers on the street instead of paperwork and cars. Get shut of the useless pcso's (if they want to be coppers then make them coppers) Give Bobbys the power to give a good old fashioned clip round the ear.

No they dont royboy - they check the bus to see if anyone has left a bag, purse etc behind but dont sweep it - they leave that to the cleaners to do.

Sweep in the context that it was used means checking the bus.
Bus drivers dont sweep the buses but coach drivers do.
