Who gets your vote for the next president
 

bit of a straw poll , but which of the two candidates , Obama or McCain would get your vote if you had a chance to vote for the next US president .
Bearing in mind no decisions have yet been made for the #2 slot as vice-President , and being a realist one has to consider a couple of facts ,
#1, that McCain is the oldest candidate ever to run and may not last another 4 years and #2 , Obama is going to be in the gun-sights of every wacko out there. So the choice of running mate is very important

Hard one to call.Obama may need Clinton as a running partner,but then she comes with her husband as a team.(Is America going to vote for a black president?)and can Obama tame his running team?They may well take the safer route.I just wish we could have a news blackout for a few weeks.Heard McCains speach tonight and he seams very sincere and honest.(don't they all)Ah well time will tell.Dying to say Obama between two Clintons would look like a liqurice allsort but i won't:gooddog:

Don't know much about American politics, so I tend to go on personalities, and Barack seems like a breath of fresh air to me, compared to McCain who seems tired and old. However, I'm sure Barb and LYL will be along presently to tell me why I'm wrong! :D

obama fer me. but like benipete can't see it happening, have very limited knowledge of usa politics like wynonie, but as n outsider the usa needs a breath of fresh air in its politics, same as us, differance being- we aint got one.:rolleyes:

I believe McCain would take America backwards in many respects. What am I saying? it can't really go much further back from 'Bushland, Invaders from the West' can it?! Well, I don't believe he'd make things better for the American people or regain a good reputation for Americans across the globe. McCain seems too fixated on the war in Iraq and I don't think he would address essential issues on home soil that need serious review such as health care. Either that or he'll cop it after a few months in office.

I've followed Obama all through the primaries and heard his speech last night (BBC World News America is essential viewing for insomniacs such as I) and he seems to have learned a lot over the journey to being democratic nominee. I'm not sure he's experienced enough to run the country but it's not like he'll be doing it alone.

I do however think a smaller government is needed in your country steeljack and so in that respect I don't think McCain should be written off.

You'll know best, you live there! Who are you gunning for steeljack?

Have you listened to his speeches etc. or just seen him in the news?
All politicians tend to give me the creeps before I listen to them... then only 99.9% still give the said creeps.

True. If, by some curious fluke this man is elected the next President of the USA, it will be the end of western civilisation as we know it.

He has the makings of a great orator, and gives rousing speeches, but saying that so did Hitler.

There seems little real policy behind all the eloquence.
