Pubs Under Threat

A BREWERY chain which owns a number of pubs in East Lancashire and employs 1,000 people in the North West is facing closure over an unpaid tax bill.
Cains Brewery, based in Liverpool, runs more than 100 pubs nationwide including The Last Orders in Blackburn, The Bee’s Knees in Accrington, The Last Orders in Nelson, The Brown Cow in Chatburn and The Printers in Oswaldtwistle.
HM Revenue and Customs has filed a petition for the company to be wound up because of money it claims they owe.

Wasn't the pub next to the Palladium called Last Orders at some in the past few years?

They don't go in there now.But I can confirm that there is some connection between Cairns and the Last Orders as they sell their ales.

Re: Pubs Under Threat

Last Orders in Blackburn should be renamed the Last Chance Saloon, seeing as so many of the regulars are banned in all other town centre pubs - no loss if that goes.
Now on a theoretical level if publicans were more responsible about who they serve I could see a good case for pubs being given tax subsidies as they are community facilities, but while they still serve under 18's and people that are already drunk that argument is not viable
