Re: Water Water Water
Well I've just got my latest statement and my Direct Debit has been increased from £20-59p a month to £30-68p a month.
I decided to ring and ask why. Yes it does seam a lot said the man and immediately decreased it to £21 00 a month.:) Still not satisfied I decided to investigate further. The meter readings were way out and It turned out was not my meter they had been reading. Back on the phone. Oh dear there must be a mistake! I will arrange for an engineer to come out and investigate:rolleyes:. This will take about a month then we will revise your bill. This will take another month. I wonder how long It would take If I canceled my payments?:confused: |

Re: Water Water Water
It seems like united Utilities are rather 'slap happy' with their billing.
I moved into this flat on 22nd July and when my son attempted to identify which water meter was mine (by running tap and looking which meter recorded it) it was discovered that the wrong meter has been used for billing purposes. This has been confirmed and corrected by their engineer's visit today. Few of these flats are occupied by 'singles' like me - most are couples, many with young families. So if my son hadn't identified this billing error I would likely be paying the bill of a family of four! |

What about the water leaking by the traffic lights at the bottom of Burnley Road Accy. It has been running for a few months now.

Re: Water Water Water
At post #51 I said they were slap happy with their billing - more evidence of incompetence -
Following their decision to use the correct meter to base my bill on:rolleyes:, they have sent me a bill covering almost a month of use. I am pleased to see that it is less than I was paying when my bill was based on rateable value, BUT ....the direct debit I had set up at my old address had been allowed to continue (because they told me it could continue after moving) and had been actioned (debited) twice, and this new bill didn't show that I had paid anything. I then had a 30 minute 'chat' online with their call centre - (glad I hadn't telephoned because it wouldn't have been free). It transpired that they had left the account for my old address up and running and that I had been paying water rates on that empty property. I had two account numbers for two addresses and have gone through the rigmarole of registering for online access to both in order to find out just what they were 'playing at'. JEEZE - If they didn't have a monopoly on water supply they couldn't get away with such administrative messes. |
