What Stopped You In Your Tracks Today?

Spiders. Went to get the post, opened the vestibule door and Oh My God, a spider has spun a web right across the vestibule. Can't see the spider to suck it up the hoover so can't get out the front way now, even if the house was on fire. Yes I know they can't hurt physically, but there is no way I am going anywhere near in case it drops on me. :hidewall:

Didn't stop me in my tracks exactly, more like in the middle of me breast stroke, when the hunky lifeguard at the gym stripped his top off to do a bit of cleaning in the jacuzzi. Cor ... had a tattoo down the top part of his spine that all most looked like a gold mark ... unfortunately, didn't get near enough to read it ... LOL Not that I stared or anything ...

Talking of spiders Mothernature, took this off my daughter's blog :-

Spiders

We seem to have a settlement in my home just at the moment. Every room I go into I see a huge spider. They aren’t the cutesy ones that run across your palm. These are the full-size black or brown ones with bulky bodies and extensive, chunky legs. They make scratchy sounds as they scurry across the carpet, walls, wood floors and even up the walls.
I don’t execute them or even evict them. I just neatly circumvent them as my face creases into a dismayed expression like an old crumpled newspaper as I say something useful like, ‘Ewww! A spider’
They don’t essentially bother us; they just softly graze their way around my environment sharing the dust and warmth, they loiter in shadowy corners and get along with the business of existence hopefully just feasting on any flies that get in.
I just wish they were prettier…

Cutesy spiders!!!!!! Never, no such thing. Burn them all at the stake, zap 'em into space. Disgusting critters. I'd rather be invaded with cockroaches. Now they are cute :D

this stopped me in my tracks today

the amount of ducks and geese that are now in the lake at Queens Park (park) i've never seen as many up there
there must have been at least 50/60 of them

and there is my very own little swan in the white coat ;)

Please don't kill spiders, if we didn't have them we'd be overrun with flies. Spiders won't run at you to attack you, to them you're so big as to be unidentifiable, just leave 'em alone and let them get on with their insecticide duties. Oh, but don't let one actually touch me. ;)

2 things stopped me in my tracks today, the usual idiots pulling out in front of my 2 ton van making it difficult to stop in time to avoid them, and 4 calls to boiler breakdowns at teatime... so see ya later, haha.

And you slept in the room knowing there could be more of them. No way would I do that unless my other half is here. Unfortunately he works in Yorkshire during the week and the cat & rat (sorry dog) are useless at protecting me from the horrible things.

Spiders? Cute little things. What stopped me in my tracks last night while taking the dogs for a tour was a large and smelly skunk ... the dogs of course wanted to chase it and kill it, but I convinced them, with much tugging, that the better part of valour was heading for home. Maybe spiders are part of a skunk's diet; if anyone afraid of spiders would like a free skunk, maybe I could find a way of sending some over there.:alright:

My nearly 3yr old son was tapping his feet on the floor so I asked him what he was doing and he replied “dogging” followed by “what is dogging Mummy?” (if you don't know - please do not google it). I told him that it meant lots of people all taking their dogs out at the same time.

No idea where that came from - that’s nurseries for ya!

my doctor came to me on a house visit yesterday .......wow that stopped me & my astonished mates in our tracks ....................got a chest infection & when coughing very bad pains in chest & back which meant having to hold my "chests" whilst coughing i can't drive my car doing that so thought try for a home visit.

as per post above i can only think the reason i did get the home visit was the fact that i clobbered to death a gigantic spider in my bedroom that morning..........didn't fancy chocking on a spider as well as the "muck" im coughing up.

You cant beat a good lie to your kids.
Next time you are in the park your lad will hopefully shout across to you

"look Mum at all those people dogging"

Then you will wish you had told him it is a naughty word and he should not use it. :D:D:D

By the way telling people not to search dogging has just made all those that do not know go and look.

Talking about things that stop you in your tracks, I've just had a phone call from my other have regarding her dog, it hasn't been at all well for over two weeks now, was in the vets for two days for test last weekend, she actually brought it up to my place for the weekend, and was due to take it back to the vet this morning, seems last night it was violently sick and when she took it to the vets this morning the test results were back and the poor little sod was suffering from kidney failure and would only live for two months at the most and she would have been in a lot of pain and discomfort, so she's had to have her put to sleep, now that has really stopped me in my tracks

The Canadian version of "dogging" means being lazy, goofing off. It's a short and more polite form of (dare I say it) "effing the dog." So if you are lying around on a hot summers' day, sipping on a brewskie, when you should be mowing the lawn, and someone asks you what you are doing, you say "just doggin' it, eh." But I guess "dogging" means something else that side of the pond.

From BBC news

Quote:

Dogging is an extension of "swinging" parties - and involves exhibitionist sex in semi-secluded locations such as car parks or country parks.

MargaretR 07-10-2008 16:58

Re: What Stopped You In Your Tracks Today?

Extract from that link-
Legally, the issue of dogging is a grey area - "doggers" are committing no offence unless they are witnessed by a member of the public who can be defined as "outraged" in the eyes of the law.
The allotment car park is a venue on my doorstep - I get 'outraged' by the booze bottles they leave behind

Emigrated to Australia.
over here they got real spiders.
we get huntsmans in our house up to 80mm across, they bite if pushed but no venom.
we also get white tails. small but a bite will cause your skin to rot very bad.
went to a outback toilet when my eyes adjusted to the dark i found i was surrounded by really big nasty spiders. i think they were bird spiders.up to 120mm.
Red backs on the toilet seat are known to be common in the outback.
and just to finish it off it has been known that if you sleep on the grond in your sleeping bag you may wake up with a snake in with you, it gets in for warmth.

If you lived in Rishton or Accy you must have been pleased to move to Gods Country.

Well, not the only thing that may stop you in yer tracks Cazzer, closed off Barnes Street today for major works (welcome back .. LOL). Can't get access from the bottom, but presume can from the top 'just for access'. Will try and take a look for you later.

Think was in the Observer last week, but wrapped me lamb chop bones in that section .. possibly on the L.C.C. site somewhere.

Thanks Kate. Don't think we'll get the keys before Friday. Maybe even Monday. They've been painting and doing repairs etc. Hopefully it will be back to normal by then. :)

Thanks Margaret.

Had a heart attack when I saw them. I'm bad enough with the English spiders and now we may be invaded by immigrant ones. As for that tube spider, tell me again that spiders don't attack you. More nightmares tonight for me. Yee gods I'm shaking now. Off to spray the whole house with Oil of Cloves. There are non getting in my house again.

Get yourself a plug in spider repeller. I am in an upstairs flat with big trees very close front and back, so they don't need to jump far to get to me.

There are 2 types=
sonic and ...sonic plus pulse through the ring main
The second type is better but dearer
