That was the idea of the drink - it did not work. I have been struggling to get to sleep in the mornings for my last couple of night shifts. I come home all nice and sleepy, get the kids breakfast and school dinners ready, take then to school and nursery, come home to bed and can't sleep. It is getting silly, still awake at 12 noon today.

I can be nearly falling asleep on my feet when ready for clocking out, get in the car and thats it - your wide awake, once in bed I usually fall asleep straight away but usually wake up after about an hour then can't get back to sleep

Ian's grandma was landlady at the Globe for many years, she used to open for the lads coming off night duty at the pit to get a dram before going home. Can't see a problem with it myself.

As you had just finished a night shift, I agree it is just like someone who works days having a drink at 7pm.

If you were on days, got up in the morning and started on the whisky I would recommend you for the Betty Ford clinic. :D

I know an ambulance driver who works shifts and he uses Melatonin tablets - a more natural way of getting refreshing sleep

i used to work in a nightclub (zebras in colne, if you've ever been) and we used to go to the club next door (tower) when we shut and drink until the first bus came in at the bus station across the road, then go and get the bus home lol

That's my problem too, it's a bummer. It doesn't happen every day, usually just after my first night on duty, makes for a tired 2nd night though.:rolleyes:

my grandad used to do that to: and he was 90 odd when he died.... must be something in it: however he also used to have a few jars everynight and a full cooked breakfast everyday....

Is way too early for me, and never felt like a drink in the past when on nights, everyone is different arnt they, cant be any worse than having caffiene (tea or coffe) before bed, lol
