im just waiting for somone to get nicked for dropping fag ash on the floor because it is litering after all, infact the way smokers get treated lately it will probably be classed as fly tipping :rolleyes:

In rossendale they have given away little pouches to smokers for them to put their fag ends in

Anyway as someone who does smoke and as been known to drop fag ends on the road ... not on the pavement .. i always aim for a grate ... then yes she should pay the fine, she shouldnt have dropped it.

True Jaysay, I always thought it looked rather 'common' .. but am now reduced to this ... have to sit down though, doesn't seem quite as bad as walking around with a fag in yer hand. Used to take a pit stop at local cafe with coffee for this .. but this has gone now. Ah well, will find myself taking a flask with me soon when I visit town, and next thing I will be seen to be eating in the street :eek: complete with napkin, candelabra, ash tray, laid out nicely on those stainless steel benches..proper little picnic:D ..

Might invest on one of these, the majority of the time i put mine out on the ground or a bin and put the stubb in a bin but am still kinda worried about setting fire to the bin lol

If you advocate that Burger King or McDonalds
are fined if the wrappings from their products is causing litter, then surely the tobacco companies should be fined when a little old lady drops a fag in the street.

i throw mine down grates but i did eread somewhere once that somone got fined for putting a fag end downa grate so even that is still classed as littering , unless they put ashtrays on lamp posts near the bins i dont see that there shoudl be a fine for dropping a fag end down a grate

smoking isnt yet illigal so if they want fag ends off teh floor they shoudl put plenty of ashtrays about

if somone is stood within a few yards of an ashtray and chucks a fag end on teh floor then they deserve to be fined but if you find yourself in an area with no ashtrays then i dont see a problem with putting it down a grate unles of course teh sewer system cant handle a few fag ends :rolleyes:
