i think enough was said in first post to breach confidentiality rules, especially if someone knows where suzie works.

Thanks for the input.
I feel sure I'll learn something from the opinions about the situation given and be able to integrate those into my practice.
Helps me have a more open and rounded view.

is the fact that he said he would get a job and support the potential baby instead of claiming benefits not a good thing or have i missed something?

From a professional point of view, there are no confidentiality rules being breached here. No names mentioned, just a typical, everyday scenario seen in GP, Antenatal, DWP, Social Service and Probation offices and surgeries throughout the country.

If I had a quid for everyone who'd said similar to me in my job, I'd have retired 6 years ago..:)

I think there are a couple of issues

1. Why only get a job now she is having a baby? It sounds like he prefers to not work - that might not be true of course.

2. If she has 2 kids in care already should she be allowed to have more? If we assume she is not fit to look after the other two - might not be the case here but is valid in other cases - why will she be fit to look after another?

I couldn't see any problem with Susie's original post, its an everyday occurance in todays world. We have a situation where there are people who can work but won't and those who want to work who can't. Its always baffled me how some people can spend their days in the pub and bookies, without lifting a finger to do any sort of work. Mind you I have to admit I have a big drink problem myself, I can't flaming well afford it:rolleyes:

ha ha it would be hilarious if this wasnt so serious.your saying its alright to sponge of the state and have kids that would put the safety of kids in danger like the recent one that died, when a alcaholic junkie killed him.as in the original post it states the mother already has 2 in care.it must be serious for social services to take these children into care.the third one lives in a different town probably to avoid abuse...this is part of the problem of todays society, kids left to fend for themselves due to unfit parents, what kind of future is that:confused::confused:

Just a little wonder, It was highlighted in a few national newspapers about a family who are all on benefits and are complaining they should get more money because they are to Obese to work, they say its a medical condition, then they shoot themselves the foot saying that their favourite pastime is nibbling on biscuits all day, and there was a picture of the ladies all smiling for the camera, who said everybody gets their 15 minutes of fame, what a way to star.:(
