Re: Budget 2009
I am not a fan of Gordon Brown but surprise surprise, who starts this thread? And the notion that some are saintly (blue) and others disastrous (red). How simple politics is to you Andrew? Take a look back and mistakes have always been made. Chamberlain, Heath, Thatcher have all made bad decisions.
Thatcher sold off our one great national asset North Sea oil for a pittance, shut down mines and sold off banks and was the architect of Cameron's broken society which is costing the country £billions. Labour have now had to lock up a record 90,000 people and the prisons are full. Chamberlain had no policies and a piece of paper (like David Cameron) and failed to deal with the major issues of the day. Listening to you and your clapped out nonsense it's depressing. People like yourself Andrew hysterically peddled 'THE FACTS' that Northern Rock was a disaster, break the Government, was all wrong, and would take decades to pay off. Currently it's two thirds paid off IIRC one year on, and making a profit, and about to offer ordinary folk 90% mortgages AND has turned a small shareholding by Taxpayers in to a billion pound asset. Much of the borrowing now has gone into bank shares so what happens when Cameron comes in and is cash rich? You need to stop ranting and raving and take an honest look at the bad AND THE GOOD. |

Re: Budget 2009
*avoiding yet more useless posts about the disastrous past of blue & red party politics*
Worked out that my mum & brother will see a substantial rise of a few hundred pounds in income over the next year. The Budget clearly works in the short term, which is extremely important and necessary. We can only wait to see what happens in the long term. |
