As for Tory/Labour tea boys, that lark I suspect will shortly all be over...voters want someone with a bit of experience of life before they're an MP. Anyway, I thought andrewb was next off to the LSE, to join a list of famous alumini such as JFK, Mick Jagger, Cherie Booth, me and Monica Lewinsky.

His appeal does seem err...limited outside of his Oswaldtwistle ward, as witnessed by past General Election results.

It'll be interesting to see who Labour field to stand against him, and defend a sizable majority, in the light of the government's unpopularity.

Any personal negativity to the idea of him representing us in Westminster from myself, is purely selfish, because I'd hate to lose him as my councillor.

Honest.

I suppose with Greg bowing out you could say that it will give Britcliffe the best opportunity that he's ever had as he won't be going up against a well respected, sitting politician.

On the other Labour will be fielding someone who is unscarred by recent expenses rows and war mongering claims.

So it will be an interesting election, I wouldn't want to put a bet on it either way!!!! :D

Some mentioned at the time, when he eventually joined Accy Web, that his choice of the username, TheLeadersOfficeHBC, was a little rash.

Perhaps he's someone who subconsciously sets his sights just a lttle too low, or at leasst knows his limitations.

I agree, he'll never have a better chance.

Anyway they say a week's a long time in politics, and I can't see an election before next spring, and my own feeling is it'll be next June, so who knows what can happen before then.

I'm sure as a fellow Accy Web member, we'd all like to wish him the best of British luck.

PB in Westminster...well, it is far enough away, but I wouldn't want him as a representative of ours..........Please, those folk who are on the selection committee for a labour candidate.....pick someone with ability and charm.

I would vote for a donkey before I would vote for PB.......sorry, but even typing his initials gives me the heebies!

If he has to step down from the local and LCC councils it would be better for us.
He can do less damage to us at Westminster:rolleyes:

Don't you throw your hat in just yet!

He hasn't been selected..up to press.

He's just told the powers that be he's willing to stand.

No suprises there then.

Of course we're all free to post our thoughts at this news, but please no polls on the subject yet, which may help to sway the selection committee's decision.

Keep them guessing.

:D

I'm pretty sure that if he has shown an interest in standing then there must be a fair chance of him being selected........it would be a real slug in the guts if he said he was willing to stand and the selection committee turned him down......he really would be crying into his cocoa.

Well, he might not do us any damage, but then I don't think he would do us much good either........and it would be insufferable to have him in the 'Obby' spouting his usual drivel, but with a Westminster edge.
