Ha haaaaaa! What a great thread. Karma to you, Westender. :D

I don't know why, but I have never liked the word 'supper'. Very silly, I know. :(

Another one is when someone says that someone has 'turned round' and said something. I always imagine people literally spinning round as they talk.

The third one is when people talk about themselves in the third person. You usually see this if someone is talking to a child.
They say 'Mummy has to go out' instead of 'I have to go out'

At the end of the day is my favourite. Well at the end of the day, it's the end of the day. It's nonsense really.

At the end of the day just kneel and pray
say: thank you Lord for my wealth for my ways
I’ll try to be Good, all I know that I should
that’s my Prayer for the end of the day

Nobody knows what part you found
so do what you can for the others around
be ready to meet what the Day may send
and be ready to greet every man as a friend
carry them High.....when they seem to be Low
as on Your Way you go
that’s my Prayer.....for the End of the Day

La la la .... :D

Loved this when I was a kid.

Don't you just hate it when someone borrows something off you and they say " i will bring it back " . you know very well that they won't .

Thinking out of the box is new phrase that a lot of people seem to using now. What box?

You've just reminded me of another one!

When someone asks to borrow an item when they are really asking you to give it to them as it would either be impossible to give it back ( or you wouldn't want it back after they'd used it)

'Can I borrow a tissue off you?'

When out with a baby 'can I borrow a nappy off you?'

"he's no angel, but..." (my son may have mugged an OAP, burnt down the local school, terrorised the neighbourhood and stolen numerous cars, but he hasn't actually murdered anybody).
"but hey! that's alright..." (don't even understand what that one means, but it's usually total prats who use it).
"don't you think you've had enough?" (if I did, I wouldn't be at the sodding bar asking for another pint, would I?).
"non-judgemental" (a favourite of those who don't have the guts to condemn bad behaviour).
"I'm not being funny, but..." (get ready, I'm going to say something insulting to you).
"we will be setting up a working party to investigate the problem" (we're going to spend more of your hard-earned taxes on paying people who like the sound of their own voices).
"despite the rising cost of raw materials, we have pegged our price levels for the last three years" (woo-hoo, sucker, we're going to hit you with a whopping price rise!).
"never mind, it's only a game" (if you're not a football fan, you will never understand how despair-inducing that particular phrase is, as you sit there, head in hands, contemplating the prospect of a ruined weekend!).

I'm agreeing with everybody so far. :D

I can't stand "24/7" for all the time and "police girls" for WPCs - when do you ever hear of police boys?

The one I used to hate most seems to have gone out of fashion a bit, "Give me a bell."
