Re: eyesore and empty houses in hyndburn

I have not been back to my home town for over 60 years. In the Thirties we lived in Hyndburn Street. In the Forties we lived in Duke Street Clayton. They were nice little places to live back then.
I wanted to see what my old home town looked like now. So I went on Google and looked up all the old streets that I knew back then. I was appalled.Everywhere was a DUMP. What have you done to Accrington? Who are the vandals responsible? I thought that we had Slums back in the Thirties but now you have Slums all over the place. You all ought to be ashamed for allowing your town to be treated like this. Get your fingers out and get something done.

My daughter lives on Hyndburn St.
The St. was due to be given a face lift but the cash ran out. However most of the streets off Blackburn Road have been completed and look much better than before.:hothothot

Some of us have carpets and cupboards now and I'm led to believe that gas and electricity is well on It's way.:alright:

There is even talk of television and a thing called video but we will have to wait and see.:hehetable

It is very easy to do a virtual tour of the all streets and roads using google maps.
The photos may be 3 years old but they can give a true reflection of the state of our town.

We keep voting back in, a tory council which lets it happen, so indirectly, collectively, we are responsible.

and this is why google streetview is wrong and can not be used as a source of reference, unless it is used as history. 3 years is a long time in development, and some photos are 4 years, check out the satellite views,(they were took over 10 years ago) I have had 3 cars and a front extension, since the photo outside my house was took over 2 years ago, so how many houses are boarded and what area's have improved since they took those pictures?

If ever there is a good time to enter the photo comp here it is...;)
