If you wish to see the mayor and mayoress come to the market hall on tuesday 26 october you see us and 20 mayors mayoress on the civic tour of hyndburn and we are also going to accrington stanley see you about 10 45. To garinda if you see me talk to me.
To Atarah you see im here all the best to you all malcolmp.

Well, that is interesting news, 10 or so gold chains arattlin' around our streets and yet I somehow feel that if you give them a slap up meal of pigs trotters or tripe on a stick, (purchased from the Market Hall of course), the bill for all these eminent people will be a great deal less than having a z celeb chef for the day.
:)

Next stop Private Eye and the Rotten Boroughs page? You wouldn't be the first from Hyndburn to get a mention!;)

Yes, although we don't really class her as a 'publicity department' as such but in essence that's what she could represent, I suppose.

Whilst Peter Britcliffe may use her as such (although I don't know that he does) it is generally considered that anything you want to get into the papers is your own affair to sort out. It may be completely different for the controlling group but officially the council is not there to arrange political promotion within the press.

That hasn't stopped them approving The Beacon newspaper which you will all be getting through your letterboxes shortly (Baxenden even more shortly) to show what the whole council does.

From reading it, it would appear that we don't have any Labour or Independent councillors at the moment though. Still, the legal team have approved it so it can't be political promotion can it?

Of course, I had to share the limelight with Peter but I fancy I came out of it rather better than he did.

Has he made it to Private Eye? Surely someone has a link if so....

I got my Beacon yesterday.

How much did it cost, despite being 'free'?

Good old Freedom of Information was right on it last week. Only 16 days at the outside till I find out.

I've also asked about the Leader of the Council's specially minted medal.

Oh, right.

It's a secret.

For the time being.

Good work Sherlock Moss.

Only the editor has the say what photos are published, not matter how much you check

From my experience its the responsibility of the individual to seek press coverage for political purposes Ken, I was the press officer for the Tory Party in the nineties, whatever you submit is published at the editors discretion, which includes editing the material too

I retrieved my copy from the recycling sack, and decided to read it.

Not too bad, and certainly better than the similar paper from L.C.C.

Still be interested to know the cost though. Production, distribution, etc.

I did get a little giddy when it first plopped on the mat. As I always get a hand delivered calendar from H.B.C., and mine is always a presentation, first off the press copy, and I thought it might be that, now the nights are drawing in.

Something to look forward to.

Wonder why?

Your prayers are answered, Atarah. The Latest News Page on the HBC website is now like the Court Circular for the Mayor.
