Salt and grit only works effectively at dissolving ice down to a temperature of between -10 and -13 degrees so I am told and in the past two years we have had temperatures down to as low as -22 (if my car thermometer and Rishton Towers barometer are to be believed). What doesn't help is people emptying roadside gritbins to treat their own driveways, leaving the roads and pavements in an even worse state.

As far as remnants of grit being left behind until summer, I can't say I found it to be a problem myself.

Well it all depends on the weather Less, I've been down accy a few times this summer on a Wednesday, usually, didn't bother today, but hope to be down next week, so if your in the Railway, ya can buy me a pint:drink::alc:

well if your there at nine am.... so are the wee wee heads.... I have seen people walk away ... because they have been asked for money and so on... its not good ( the town looks bad enough without these low life hanging around )
