That pay as you go system looks technically complicated - no wonder they charge more for fuel when you use it.

As far as i know Neil you have to have both gas and electric with British gas to get them not sure if other company's do them
the units i got look nothing like the one in the photo
i got 2 separate units one for gas card and one for electric key both work fine and have used them to put credit on both

At the moment I only have gas from BG but will have leccy later next month.Both can be topped up at home.

Depends on your circumstances and the rate you are charged.I'm on the Essentials rate, supposed to be 6% lower than the Standard rate.:confused::)

One of the gripes recently, which is causing the review of fuel companys practices, is the discounts given to 'on-line tariffs'. I am on one of those.
I get a cheaper rate for dual fuel, direct debit, paperless billing, and providing my meter readings.

Im on the essentials tariff as well .. and when ive had the eon or scottish power or any of the others ringing me up .. as soon as i tell them im on the essentials tariff they say they cant beat it and to stay where i am ...

What are you charged per unit of gas/electricity?

I have read that its not as cheap as you may think.
