Strange as it sounds, Global Warming( if its exists in the context people generally discuss as opposed to the natural cycles the Earth goes through over millions of years) will make the UK colder. Its complex but basically the ice caps melt which weakens the salinity of the sea which affects the currents, particularly the North Atlantic drift which is what is responsible for keeping the UK and western Europe warmer than would be expected for the latitude that we sit at.

so warmer everywhere else, colder and wetter for us!

Winner!!!!

There was an expert on Sky News this morning saying the Scandanavians cope better than us because they get a different type of snow. Softer, fluffier and easier to manage. Ours is soggy and slushy.

So now we know! :confused::confused::confused:

Aye it's a fact, look at the weather reports for ski-ing & such like "powder snow" I believe is the expression.

Right. It looks like there is a strong possibilty of more snow tomorrow. What happened last week when it came down? Was the M66 shut and if not, how long were the delays?

The snow forecast is not for the NWest, but since the temps aren't going above freezing, we will still have what has already dropped.

I've seen the forecast and I know that band of snow coming in through N. Wales can move a hundred miles either way North or South; that's why I'm a bit concerned about travel tomorrow from Manchester.

Just remember the record of the Met Office; like last year, they said this was going to be one of the warmest winters on record. They got it completely wrong. If you wonder why, look at their website. Instead of concentrating on the basics, these days they concern themselves more with this old garbage about global warming. They need to get their act togeather and fast.

I've just looked at the Met Office infared vision satellite and based upon my calculations and the movement of the weather front from the West you're going to get it any time now.

Check yourself, and follow the progress from this afternoon:

Met Office: British Isles: Infrared satellite imagery

You may wish to check with the visible image from earlier.

I just checked the old fashioned way, looked out of the window! No snow yet but it might snow later then again it might not.
Just an idea for those of you with Brit Grit, You could fill your pockets up ala The Great Escape, then whilst walking along shake the grit down your trouser legs thus making a safe path to walk on.

I know i'm just getting my coat now.:D:D:D:D

Re: The Weather

The Great Escape? If I remember correctly, 50 got shot on the orders of Hitler for their efforts; how many will Britcliffe put against the wall for a scheme such as this?
