Re: The Weather
Apparently, like last year and the summer before it, the Met Office have got it wrong again. Their forecast for this winter was 1 - 1.5 degrees above normal. Instead, we are looking at the wrong end of the coldest December for 100 years. I was surprised to notice, on crossing the Ribble at Salmesbury, that it was well on its way to freezing over completely.
Piers Corbyn, interesting chap, his brother is an MP, has made quite a name for himself by looking at the way the sun influences our weather and as a result, since 2000, has achieved a forecasting accuracy of something like 85 - 90%. Which, compared to the Met Office's lamentable record, is pretty impressive. Anyway, he reckons that although bad winters do tend to come in threes, this is the start of a longer trend and we are heading into a Mini Ice Age, apparently we are overdue one.
