I'm pleased to say that Rishton outperforms most of the borough in terms of turnout (we were the highest at 68% for the General Election) but something needs to be done to improve on that as it means that around a third didn't vote at all. As time goes by I am managing to persuade more and more people of the importance of voting but many simply don't see any difference between what we do locally to what the government does nationally.

If I can get another 10% of Rishton voting in the local elections over the next three years I'll consider that a success.

Ken I spent 40 years trying to get people to vote at local elections, its like banging your head against a brick wall believe me, always remembering the ones that do the most moaning are usually those that don't bother to vote:rolleyes:
