He's probably threatened the jobcentre staff that he is going to find his own job :D

Just had an armed copper at my door. He was delivering a notice to appear; but, got the wrong street. You get used to the coppers being armed. I believe that coppers in Kingston only shot twice last year. Both times to put accident victims out of their misery:eek::eek::eek: One of the victims was a deer, the other, a dog.;)

I believe you are thinking of the LAPD;), and those big-bellied sheriffs south of the Mason-Dixon line. And if you ever watch "Cops", you know that being black is still not a good idea if you have a run in with the US law enforcement. And sometimes, I have to admit, the RCMP get a little out of hand ... I mean, tasering a guy to death for brandishing a stapler:eek:

But it was a big stapler, with a full load of staples:D

That was a nail gun, Jaysay. Have you ever seen one of those fired? I wouldn't one pointing at me, even if I was several feet away.
So what are armed police in unmarked cars doing in Accrington? It must be a different place than that I grew up in.

They will need more than one car, a fleet of buses would be better:D

wouldn't need armed police to do that, a flagon of cider on a string would suffice.:hehetable

All depends on what you are used to. I live in a peaceful little city with a low crime rate. And yet, there are probably at least 10 armed cops sitting in unmarked cars around the city. And all the others in well-marked vehicles. I think the difference is that we are used to armed cops. Armed police in the UK, unless they are special units or on an assignment that may require a little more fire-power than a billy club, may still be the exception rather than the rule. It may be that I can remember watching "Dixon of Dock Green";):D
