And what did the ONS say when Labour were in the hot seat...presiding over a train wreck of the economy....allowing unfettered borrowing to support this standard of living you are banging on about(I certainly didn't notice a rise in my standard of living - maybe that was because dear Gordon doubled my tax bill)....what was it Gordon said 'No more Boom and Bust'...and let me think who was it said 'there's no money left'
Who was it put the useless FSA in to monitor the practices of the banks?

Politicians? Parties? They are all the same. Not in it for what they can do for you and me, they could n't give two hoots about us...just in it to make money for themselves and to jump on the gravy train when their time at the POW is over.

They tell us what they think we want to hear but do absolutely nothing about the problems that the country is battling. Words...just words...they mean nothing without positive and decisive action.
We haven't got a man in any political party that has the gumption and the cojones it takes to be a leader.

Take off those red tinted specs and look around...the parties(all of them in equal measure) are guilty for the mess this country is in.

This is what's wrong with our party political system....rather than argue the merits of their own ideas and work together for the common good, 230 pages of both red and blue taking great delight in pulling any opposition idea to pieces regardless of how good the idea actually is.

Camerons 'big society' is a great idea...unfortunately the tories have no idea how to implement a caring ethic into our society since the majority of them are greedy sods who couldn't survive without a nanny and a cleaner, they need socialist help. Labour on the other hand couldn't run the proverbial in a brewery, they'd spend all the money on crisps and pork scratchings and have nothing left to pay for the beer, they need conservatism to hold the purse strings.

Politicians have yet to realise that the great unwashed are bored out of their skulls with the constant oneupmanship which has so little substance, but always has a great cost to us not them, as one after the other parliament spends all our money overturning things that the previous encumbents created.

Guinness, I am neither red or blue.......I trust none of the political parties, they are good on providing soundbites but poor on delivering any of the ideas contained in those soundbites.
I would rather have action without talk than talk with no action......and yes your observation of the current climate in politics is spot on.
Why can't all the parties work together pool the good ideas that they might have?...Well, you only have to look at the coalition to work out the answer to that one.
A dog with a head at both ends...wanting to go off in different directions at the same time.
But I like your post, and think it another one that hits the nail squarely on the head.

I think we're singing from the same hymn sheet Margaret.

Personally I don't count this government as a 'true' coalition, since the libdems have sold their souls for a few cabinet positions and have very little say on anything important. Cameron and co just throw them a few scraps of fatty mince from time to time which Clegg thinks is beluga caviar. :D

One good thing I will give the Tories credit for, from day 1 they have ben heavily supporting British businesses abroad.
Cameron in India, Osborne in China, etc - they are good at helping UK companies win business abroad.

This is something Labour have been traditionally rubbish at, and when they have tried to do it they have got it badly wrong.

Home owners, business...everyone would have lowered bills, manufacturing goods would be less costly so, theoretically, this would make goods more competitive..it would help get the economy moving by employing more people...although stats from the ONS show that employment is up to a 17 year high(albeit many workers are currently working part time)..more people would be paying tax and NI contributions........and the Lib Dems put the blocks on this measure.

no the shareholder would benefit;) i actually kind of agree with you about wind turbines only time will tell if they are beneficial i live rurally and there have been hundreds that have popping up because this is alex salmonds brainchild up here ..

Wind turbines only make money for the landowners where they are sited...they are not effective in generating power and they are certainly not generating affordable power.

Having cheaper energy would benefit the lives of so many people, especially those on low incomes....much of their expenditure goes on energy costs.

Re: your penultimate post. The Libdems blocked the proposed changes to the boundaries which would have led to a more equal distribution of voters - would also have put our bloke on the dole.

Yes Barrie, the Lib Dems have blocked a few things that would have been implemented if the tories had not been yoked to them
I fear that the referendum on the EU is something that won't happen because Nick Clegg is passionately in favour of us remaing in the EU and of having tighter political ties too.
And before anyone jumps up and down and tells me that this proposed referendum is only on the assumption that the Tories(or a coalition of parties) wins the next....I do know this.

We should be having a referendum now...not waiting, but then if someone else gets into power, it won't be David Camerons problem will it?... I think that is why it is being done in this manner...shift the responsibility...then when someone else gets in it will be 'Well, we would have done it differently'.......no-one is ever tested in opposition.
