Re: What tugs at your heartstrings?
You see...it is true. Those who have passed, live on, as long as there is someone who holds them in their heart....as long as their is someone who remembers them, polishes and cherishes the memories.
G....you have said so many true and wise things. Our lives change as friends and family pass...but think how much poorer our lives would have been without those people in it. Change is scary........but fruit only grows on a branch that has the strength to support it. |

I haven't really. I Just tried to put into words what I've learned in life...so far. I did wake up this morning, thinking I'd probably written a load of guff on here last night. Then I thought, who gives a stuff? It's good to share things with other people, and although it might produce a few tears, it's a much more productive thing to happen here, than all the sniping that happens in many other threads. Please feel free, to keep sharing stuff that makes us who we are. There's nowt wrong with the occasional lapse into being a soft ha'ppeth. :D |
Re: What tugs at your heartstrings?
Hell what a thread, for Saturday night, myself, well can say I'm too sentimental, but there are things which do instantly give the old heart a tug. Whenever I hear Time In A Bottle, by Jim Croce, reminds me of when my mother died, the words or so poignant. Every Saturday when I see my eldest daughter, I remember the day she was born and me arriving in the delivery room within 5 minutes of her birth, seems like yesterday, the difference now is she's now 43:D and I also remember only a few moths ago giving her away when she got married, that day I really did have a tear in my eye.

Re: What tugs at your heartstrings?
take from this what you may...sometimes things happen to change us forever, and at the time the change seems devastating....but even the bad things can have good outcomes.
The obstacle in Our Path In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the King's' wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by And simply walked around it... Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. The peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many of us never understand! Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our situation, though at the time we may not realise it. |
Re: What tugs at your heartstrings?
Lovely thread Gary. :)
The thing that tugs at my heartstrings is all the stuff I have put my Mum & Dad through in my younger years. I were no angel at all but they were always there for me. I know a lot of you will say that is what parents are there to do but you dont know what I put them through. I look back now and part of me is glad that I went through what I did or else it wouldnt have made me the person I am today but the bigger part of me feels sad that I did things to hurt my closest. |

Heart of gold under all that bluff. Because of this thread, I received a message last night, from someone who recently visited you. It made me ashamed that someone could travel hundreds of miles, and I'm too lazy to make much less of an effort. If you want to, and you're up to it it, I'd love to come and finally meet you face to face after all this time, and have that brew sometime in this coming week. Just let me know when's good...if you're not too afraid. :D |

As I said, I've no answers, but if you ever need an ear to bend, just ask. If I'm well, you're welcome to mine, and I mean that. Sometimes talking, to someone unconnected to what's happening in your life, can ease what might be a burden. I've certainly done it, many times. |

Nothing could be further from the truth. I'm a fool, and my own worst enemy. It is hard, never being able to plan things, Never knowing if it will be a good day, or not. Try to appreciate, and make the most of the days you're able. What I'm trying to accept is that I do give in. I say no to doing things, because in the past I've always given 100% to whatever I've done, and now I can't. I should accept this fact, and accept that if peope want me to do things, they already know I'll do what I can, even if it's not as much as I'd like to, or would have done in the past. |
