I have tried it in all its guises......my mother used to try and get me to eat it as it was filling and cheap.......she failed miserably.

Now she freely admits it is horrible stuff, but she tried to feed it to us!

When my daughter was growing up I didn't feed her stuff that I don't like.
I don't cook stuff that I don't like.
When hubby wants spag bol he has to cook it himself......If I don't eat it then I don't cook it.

What are your preferred foods? And you say you cook hotpot even though you don't eat lamb?

There's only one thing foodwise I would not touch and that is tuna... was forcefed it in digs many years ago - yuk!

I was wondering the same... but as we have about 20 bottles of malt here I wasn't that fussed at getting one.

No you're not coming round to my house for a party - some of them have only about an inch left in the bottle - must have evaporated!? :p:p:p

This is just a very subtle marketing ploy.

The prententious people who wouldn't be seen dead in Aldi, will now take the risk of being seen.
..and say that they were only there to buy their favourite malt.

If there is a convoluted purpose for anything, you can trust me to find it ;)

yes, it goes under my radar because it isn't what I call 'foreign muck'....and himself and Ma love it(as does my next door neighbour who I cook a hot meal for a couple of times a week0...so it is worth cooking as there is more than just himself eating it.
I like plain food...roast beef,yorkshire pud(home made) fresh steamed veggies.
I like a good steak...with a rim of yellow fat........3-4 minutes each side.
I love good home made puddings too, but don't make them these days...they head right for my waist(or what used to pass for my waist) I like a home made meat and potato pie, with pickled beetroot or red cabbage.
I like a Roast of pork with fresh cooked veggies....apple sauce and home made stuffing.
I can be persuaded to eat sausage and mash...but only now and then.
I like a pork chop grilled........with apple sauce on top, then topped with a sprinkling of mature cheddar cheese....mashed spuds, cabbage and carrots......I like a bowl of carrots mashed with butter and pepper.......I can eat then as a meal....i can eat sprouts like this too with just a sprinling of lardons on top.
I make a very tasty vegetable pie too....no crust, but topped with crunchy crisp slices of potato.
I make Risotto(various types) for the children too(I figure it is better than burger and chips)they eat it up and tell me it is better than what their ma makes....OK. I know this falls into the category of nasty foreign muck, but I think of it as a savoury rice pudding...you see, my goal posts are movable.:)

Tsk,tsk Sue -it's NOT Spag Bol, it's Tag Bol!!!! (Or Lasagne bolognese)

The original from Bologna is always served with Tagliatelle NEVER Spaghetti which are from the South of Italy and are delicious served with many other sauces... Have you never noticed that the sauce doesn't coat Spaghetti? Therefore it is not a good combination!:rolleyes:

Don't know how you can dislike Tuna -either tinned or fresh -wonderful fish. Here in Italy they call it "La bistecca del mare" ie The Steak of the sea...as it is so meaty. Spaghetti with tuna is a great quick meal...

Didn't see any in either the Accrington store or the one in Manchester, but they may have sold out quickly as there were only 3000 bottles for sale.

Have been so good lately and have lost yet more weight this last week -but now i'm starving reading all this....blast!

Like the sound of the vegetable pie -interesting.

Italian food is NOT foreign muck Margaret - it's the best diet in the world -healthy and nutritious. Not if you make it Jamie Oliver's way though -has it all swilling in olive oil!

It's also very economical food to make -good for families who have to budget.
The quantity of red meat eaten is much lower than in many other parts of the world hence less heart problems etc in the population.

That's probably why I don't like tuna - prefer fish to be fishy not meaty. Don't think my fishmonger grandad would have had any on his stall in the fifties - I was brought up on cod, hake, haddock...

I used to keep tagliatelle in my store cupboard but can't be arsed to keep several kinds of pasta these days - stick to spag, farfalle and lasagne.

Snap & then some ;) the oldest being a 40 year old Bunnahabhain from 1963 Dist. 11/05/63 Bott. 20/05/03 (only a couple of drams left :(). Various 25's, 21's & 18's & a usual assortment of various age statements, plus some rather nice collectors expressions. :)

Sounds like a reasonable diet to me... you can come and cook for me any time... steak with mushroom risotto and a side order of really dark green cabbage please. And a nice pud for afters...
