I am bemused by this. If it were a renewal, it would state 'extant' .. this doesn't. Also, PA's only last a period of 3 years for work to commence.

Could be that a similar application was submitted 6 years ago, but this looks like a completely new one to me, which would cost the owner quite a bit of money if his original one had expired.

Puzzled ...

I thought it was 6 years Kate, but we don't have any councillors on here now to verify it;)

Yawn yawn yawn. People moan when local amenities close down. But, ask yourself why.

Because most people would prefer to buy cheap drinks at the supermarket. The vast majority of pubs can't buy products for the same price as supermarkets sell them at.

R.E. the previous post............ Graham Jones doesn't care about the Oaklea or the job loses if it closes.

It is a case of economics.........some people do not have the luxury of choice. Their financies are stretched, so obviously it makes sense to get your alcohol hit where it is cheapest.
The other option is to go out spend your money in the pubs, and not pay the rent?
Not rocket science.
When there is no money about, people cut back on treats like a night at the pub.

The previous post yeh mentioned talks about councillors. Graham Jones left the council awhile ago to become M.P. Though at a post a year yeh may not be aware of that?:D:D

Places like Weatherspoons appear to be managing ok. Some pubs are not viable to run so they close down. Others open up. Its just the way of business.

Did re-look at this, Jaysay .... did used to be 5 years.

Nevertheless, Planning Permission has been granted.

Re: Oaklea Pub

So it is still possible that the pub could be turned into flats.
The owner must be thinking about it or he would not have spent the money for planning permission twice.

It is likely a tax deductable business expense and increases the value of the property IF he ever decides to sell.

Nowt of the sort, check out new planning permission regs,;) he already got it when he purchased the property, was much much cheaper to renew than let it expire, its a fall back position simple as.;)

Thought of that too, Margaret, lots of property/land owners do this. Applicant is a 'she' by the way, who appears to have set up a company called Woodland Homes Ltd., which was incorporated on 20/12/2012....maybe for this reason ? The title is interesting though.
