20,000 for the first five years, and now another 10,000 in two!

I blame politicans' expenses, community art, flash mobs, and the hypocrisy of our M.P.

This will be my last landmark.

I'll be back on my own planet, before I ever reach 40,000.

;)

My rudimentary Maths makes your posting exponential - soon be travelling at the speed of light, then the skies no longer the limit and outer space and inter-galactic travel a reality as suggested by Eric.

Do let us know what G-space is like when you get there:D

I don't think I post all that much.

There are times, months sometimes, when I don't post at all.

I think it's just when I get the bit between my teeth, and feel passionately about something, I turn into a fiend, and can easily rattle off dozens of guff posts an hour.

You haven't started a thread for a while -that's true. Time for one I think - and i would love more trivia lessons when you have the time and inclination.

You do have your moments when you get a bee in your bonnet - but I always cheer Compagno Garinda on when he's on one of his crusades.
Keep posting G, it's always a breathe of fresh air when you do;):D

When my account was reactivated after a year absence back in 2008 my post count was something like 168 or 188 I for get, in my 12 months clicking my heels on other web sites I got the hang of things and got right into the spirit of things on my return, think it must have been absence made the heart grow fonder:D

On December 29th 2011, our worthy and much respected MP managed to find time from his busy schedule to make the following post in the thread concerning Willow Mount WMC.

"I am proud to have voted to defend workers rights and environmental legislation (which is what this was all about if you followed it closely). It is always disappointing when working people cross over to the dark side, persuaded to support the arguments of the Daily Mail / Tories / Fat Cats but that is something you have to live with."

He was writing after weeks of silence following the extensive criticism of his decision to vote with his party and the Government in denying his constituents a referendum over europe.

You will note especially the first sentence of the quotation; the bit about the defence of worker's rights. All very Labour, cloth caps and whippets that, could have come straight out of the mouth of Marx himself.

Then, Lancashire Evening Telegraph, ran a story on our MP's call for the preservation of his favourite breed of ratter, commenting that the breed had strong associations with the Royal Family in the persons of King George V and the Princess Margaret, among others.

Those with keen eyes and an enquiring mind would naturally be curious to see what LET's readers had to say on the subject and so would read the comments beneath the online article. On doing so they would have found a reference to an online blog...

Da Steeps Speaks: Slave labour required

which, at some length details just how respectful of worker's rights Graham Jones MP actually is.

A fair day's work for a fair day's pay?

Not if you work for Graham Jones, the champion of worker's rights, it seems.

Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive

More one eyed drivel Bob. We've rarely agreed. Guido Fawkes wants an extreme (Conservative) right wing government. The facts are not what he is about.

'One eyed drivel' or not, and coming from the master of drivel and the high priest of the non-sequitur himself, I will look on that as something of a compliment; backhanded though it may be.

You are quite right in your assertion that we have rarely agreed, though I am tempted to speculate that the fault lies more with you and your choice of politics than with me and my choice of none at all. But we need not be judgemental about this.

What Guido Fawkes (Paul Staines) either wants or does not want is a matter between himself and his conscience, and is of no interest to me. Though knowing Paul, as I do, I am sure that whatever he wrote is likely to be decidedly uncomplimentary and, sadly, invariably true, to a degree.

I really don't want to get into slanging match over the degree of truth, I have never found the splitting of hairs to be an acceptable pastime for an adult and to be frank I really can think of better ways of spending what little time remains to me.

So, there is a simple way to settle the matter once and for all and that is by answering as honestly as you can, and in no more than your own words, the following question. It is quite a simple question and all that is required as an answer is two numbers.

I choose, still, to pay you the compliment of regarding you as an honest man, despite past disappointments and your bizarre political allegiances. I will therefore make no attempt to verify the answer you give, but I will believe whatever you tell me, because I still believe you to be an honest man.

Question:
How many persons termed 'intern' have worked with you at Westminster since you became a Member of Parliament to the present day and, of those, how many of them have been paid, at minimum, the National Minimum Wage?

Note: By "worked" I mean time spent, no matter how long or how short, in matters or activities which contributed to, or advanced your work as a Member of Parliament.

I am indebted to About.com: Need. Know. Accomplish. for the following definition:

"An internship is a pre-professional experience that provides an opportunity to gain relevant knowledge and skills prior to starting out in a particular career field."
