general opinion is that she will arrive about 1-30pm but she isn't leaving Burnley until 2pm.

Fairly sure she isn't going in to Hollins and even more convinced if other schools are being invited, they would never fit in the place :)

Well she'll feel like she's going backwards when she's been to the Dingle Dome Dave:D:D

Live feed on the LET, apparently the Royals have arrived at Burnley.

More importantly I do not know the colour of her dress as yet, as soon as confirmation gets through Karma to be given if anyone is right!

Any last minute guesses? :D

Accrington town centre is just one mass of yellow Police jackets. Never seen as many even at a local derby match.

Quite right, and thousands have today which is great news for all the shops in the town centre at the very least. I had a ticket for inside the Market Hall and it was a real honour to see Her Majesty in the flesh alongside Prince Philip.

Rows and rows of happy people cheering in the streets to see just one person, how often does that happen?

Count me in, I'll always be a royalist.

Count me in too ... and millions of other Canadians ... Recently, the Canadian Federal Government passed a law renaming the three arms of our armed forces ... in effect going back to what they used to be called: The Canadian Army, the Royal Canadian Air Force, and the Royal Canadian Navy ... I can understand folks not liking individual Royals ... but, a good hard look at governments all over the world shews, to me anyway, that constitutional monarchy is a stable, democratic, and effective form of government. The UK, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Japan etc. ... oh, and Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. It works ... it ain't broke; so, there is no need to fix it. And Elizabeth ll has done a damn fine job. All over the world she is respected. She is not just a Queen ... she is The Queen.

'My mother, my sister, or my husband?'

Still, it keeps them out of mischief, as long as they don't go frightening the horses, in the Royal Mews.

:D

I'm an ardent republican, but I admit ol' Lillibet hasn't done much wrong in the last sixty years.

Besides all the security, which follows her everywhere, I wonder how much her visit cost, weighed against the extra sausage pacifiers, that will have been sold in Greggs?

Cleaning the Town Hall stonework, new carpet up the stairs, bunting, massive floral displays, which I glaced yesterday inside the Town Hall, as well as new loos for royal tinkling.

Some wag once said the Queen thinks the world smells of new paint.

They weren't wrong.

Still, she has her bus pass.

So that's one saving, as she travels up and down the country.

:rolleyes::D

I once sold her some hankies, Irish linen, hand rolled hem, top notch snot moppers, which were a gift for her cousin, who she was meeting for lunch in the Berkeley.

Nice enough little woman.

You're supposed to bill them, but of course no one ever does.

Look after the pennies...and you've more pounds to bet on the horses.

:rolleyes::D

With reference to Ken's fawning 'I'll always be a royalist' post.

My much loved great uncle was a local Labour councillor, and had to attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace, under much duress, when he was Chairman of the old Ossy Urban District Council.

He remained seated throughout the national anthem, just as he always did when it was played.

That's when socialists were socialists.

I did something similar, when we were all asked to stand as Princess Michael of Kent entered the concert hall at the Barbican, in the row directly in front of ours, and I was the only person to remain defiantly seated.

My Uncle Joe would have been proud.

As I say, if you have to have a head of State, decided by accident of birth, she hasn't done a bad job.

Though millions of other women have also done a good job.

With their jobs being a damned site harder graft, than simply smiling and waving.

I'm sure lots of people will have enjoyed the visit.

Hip, hip.

Oh she's gone.

....................

She'll be back though.

In another sixty years.

....................

We'd better start saving.

We'll need new toilets in the Town Hall by then.

Never seen as many rozzers as there were patrolling the town at 7:15 am this morning, and the pavements in the bus station were gleaming, no chips, litter or even the traditional Accrington one-legged pigeons. Obviously lots of expense, and then it all added an extra 40 minutes to my journey home because of the fire at the Con club disrupting the bus detour route, glad this only happens once every blue moon!

Went shopping in Aldi this afternoon, the car park was full to bursting, people driving around waiting for a space to become available.

I thought shopping will be difficult, how wrong I was, just me, the misses, and the staff in the store. Shortly after a couple more entered the store, I didn't feel so lonely then.

As we were leaving the store the royal car arrived at the roundabout with all the outriders, and I got to see the back of Her Majesties hat.

I like the Royal Family but I did call the queen some nasty names when I was trying unsuccessfully to get home from work because of the enormous backlog of traffic she caused, I suppose because of security and blocked off roads - I wonder if she has any idea of the chaos she leaves in her wake wherever she goes?

There are several varieties of mint

Some are greener than others

Anyone on here actually go?

It was absolutely cronic down there. 10 deep, pushing and shoving, fainting, people being sick. I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Gawd Bless you Ma'am.

Oh please don't burst Councillor Kenneth's nice little international/royalist bubble....with harsh, economic reality.

If it looked nice.

It was nice.

Look again in your till.

See, some takings. Even if it was down on a normal Wednesday.

Think nice.

See nice.

Who needs Justin Bieber when there's the Duke of Edinburgh to make the ladies hearts go a flutter?

Anyone see Sponge Bob Squarepants?

I addressed her as madam, as I would any other female customer.

She seemed to leave charmed.

As you'd expect.

Had the dancing natives dispersed by the time you were trying to get home?

That was the only thing I regret not seeing.

Welcome home.

My best friend and her husband arrive in Accy on Friday, travelling from Milan.

I've told her I've arranged a few strings of bunting for her.

Anyway, I think it's really quite sweet.

When a grown man, especially in some official capacity, will publicly admit to going a bit weak at the knees, every time they're in the presence of some old queen.

We don't normally open Wednesday so anything we took would have been up on normal. As it is we took the same as a normal Wednesday :D

At least we had a nice round number of customers ;)

It's not suggestive.

People go shopping in Accy, in their jim-jams, of their own free will.

I was down town yesterday and saw some strange things, including a woman letting her little boy relieve himself in blockbusters doorway surrounded by many people in the crowd. She then walked off with him without a care for those left behind trying not to stand in the little yellow river.

Yeah, not an uncommon sight from what I heard. Near me there was a little lad desperate for the loo. What kind of idiot brings a little kid and expects them to stand in one place for two hours?

Hated it when people turned up late and expected to barge to the front just 'so our kids can get a view'. Strictly speaking it should be the oldies at the front because they are less likely to see her again.

Yeah, the pushing and shoving spoilt it for me and the selfishness of a few idiots, spitting & swearing. Plus, she wasn't here for very long, 50 mins max. Plus, was it just me or was the 'march past' a bit lack lustre? A few members of the WI and St Johns Ambulance. Well done to the Gurkhas though.

Next time, if the Queen wants to see me she can come to my place.
