Well done, Wallop, for putting in that mail to the Observer. Hope it brings in some sort of explanation. |

Re: April Fools or What
Next Tuesday afternoon, between 1.45 and 3.15 pm, I'll be sat in there, with a recently discovered collection of antiquarian erotica, stashed under my raincoat.
I'll be more than happy to share my find, with any interested persons. Just ask the staff behind the desk, to point out the prat with the dirty tat. |

Great idea for a theme one month. You forgot to mention that the raincoat would be from a designer range. |

Take that as read. I might be packin' smut, but it will be stylishly sheathed. Vintage Paul Smith, circa 1982, navy, mercerised cotton. See you next week. I won't have any of you on me, by the way. Too specialised for Accy library. :D:eek::D |

Re: April Fools or What
I don`t wish to enter into an argument or slanging match with anyone, neither do I desire to have more red shiny things, but can I ask if anyone actually knows Mr Pratt??
I have known David for over 30 years, having lived on the same street as him for the majority of my life. If anyone does know David, then they will know that he is well over 80, and has been very ill/housebound recently. Although I cannot comment or condone his letter inviting people to come and see his collection of historic fag packets, nor will I agree with his numerous letters to the local rags, his viewpoint is seldom far from opinionated and usually Dickensian, and usually not one I would personally share. But have a heart people, this elderly gent has never even heard of Accyweb, let alone turned on a computer. It was only recently that he was given his first television. Up until his accident, he still took 3-4 paper rounds daily for the local newsagents and also sorted all the papers into bags for the proprietors, I add to this that he did it for free. Now, David is what you can class as eccentric, opinionated and sometimes outspoken, but he is a true gentleman, and subsequently, as I know the person and not just the name, something must have happened that we do not know for this situation to have occurred. He would not do it as a prank, having lost his funny bone years ago. The only way David can voice his views is through the local press. Like it, love it or loathe it, it really is his only outlet. He may be a Pratt, but only in name, certainly not in his nature. |
Re: April Fools or What
Just rung the Observer & lady I spoke with said she has Mr Pratt's phone number & will give him a ring & get back to me, she said it might not be until early next week, but hey ho, maybe we will get to the bottom of this.
