Just got a catalogue from Museum Selection who are offering an apron with this quote on it. By American humorist Erma Bombeck, 1927-96. She also said:

Housework is a treadmill from futility to oblivion with stop-offs at tedium and counter productivity.

My theory on housework is, if the item doesn't multiply, smell, catch fire, or block the refrigerator door, let it be. No one else cares. Why should you?

My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint.

I liked a lot of the quotes on this page:

Re: What exactly is Housework?

Housework is something women do superbly and men are useless at.
This is an opinion held by all women which must be encouraged at all costs.
If a man is forced to do some housework by his boss he must ensure that the duster just happens to catch one of her favourite pieces of Ladro on the fireplace-they are so fragile(not a big piece, don't make it too obvious). That will convince her she was right all along and all you are fit to do is all the things you enjoy.
The same with washing dishes- just happen to drop one of the dishes from a full dining set(preferable one she can't replace). If that doesn't work after the second or third time, buy her a dishwasher for her birthday.

I only ask because a cif advert claims that women do up to 6 hours of housework. Now, I don't have a woman and I'm not terribly keen on housework but even I can spend more than 6 hours doing housework.
Is it because I'm not using cif that it takes me longer? Or is it because housework isn't just a quick wipe around the kitchen and bathroom but also includes throwing the hoover about the place every now and then, cleaning the odd few dishes, cooking, laundry, and the one that really takes up the most of my time picking fliers up from behind my letterbox and transferring them to the white sack?
:confused:

6 hours a day or 6 hours a week .... :confused::hesoff:

I don't think the advert said, just hung there on 6 hours, but I took the implication to mean 6 hours a week, that's the minimum time it takes me to clean the bog and surrounding area! So I think they may be wrong.
:)

You might like to try this idea to improve your aim... makes cleaning the bog a lot easier.

Didn't bother with the link, it's not my aim it's the crust that forms because the flush is never strong enough.
