Bill Roach latest 'star'to be arrested.

I see from the news that Bill Roach (Ken Barlow) has been arrested. I'm starting to wonder whether the police are becoming a little over zealous in the aftermath of the Savile scandal. Why is it only now that people are coming forward pointing fingers. Surely, at least some of these people would have been investigated before now. Or maybe it was the culture of the time and as allegations such as these are now taken more seriously they are now being reeled in one by one!

A lot of them are probably attention seekers, probably got a fixation on a certain star & looking to make a few quid on something thats harder to disprove than prove. Why so long after the Saville case came to light

Think this may well be the tv version of the extinction of the dinosaurs at this rate. People of the future may one day be leafing through their history tomes and come across the great disappearance of the ancient entertainment dinosaurs. Did they fall or was they pushed.!

He used to live at the big house at the tesco roundabout ( now a restaurant ) so I guess it happened there.

The question I have is how the heck can they prove anything now. its not like they can prove DNA or physical evidence in any way this far down the line. As I see it, its his word against hers and in this country as we have innocent till proven guilty there is no way I see of a conviction. All I see in that case is a load of wasted money on prosecutions/police time.

Yes, I agree especially when the thread starter didn't bother to put a link as to what he's accused of.
Yet members jump on and assume this to be correct, I hate hearsay it doesn't give all the facts.

It was on Granada reports. Says he was arrested this morning at his home and has been accused of a historical accusation of rape. Apparently he is being interviewed at a police station 'somewhere in Lancashire'.

Another geriatric celeb accused of illegal activity with a female just under legal age.

It looks increasingly likely that they are avoiding the politicians suspected of sodomising boys. (which I regard as even more offensive.).

The longer they take arresting just celebs, the more they hope you will be content that they have 'left no stone unturned'. They need to get moving boulders .

Well as a male that has up to present never considered under age sex of any flavour, I don't consider sodomy or sex with an unwilling partner to be something normal folk would consider to be better or worse, both are taking advantage of the vulnerable.

I do notice however we have no solid link from the thread starter, should this hearsay continue?

It is only better than nothing, just.
Do you not understand the responsibility of a thread starter?

Without a link to what is claimed, the site as well as the person is vulnerable to any consequences that may occur if the accusation turns out to be false.
Can I ask you now that you have placed a link on site to claim that responsibility?:)

aye but if he died tomorrow as things are he would die innocent by law but his memory would be forever tainted by accusations that were never proven or disproved

yet again i ask why in cases such as sexual offence cases are names not with held until guilt is proven

those two dirt bags who murdered jamie bulger get protection from the law and they are guilty of murdering a ababy boy infact it was only last week someone was prosecuted for releasing tehir new identities on facebook

teh system is completely wrong and needs a serious overhaul

As for learning as you go, try putting a link on that's learning as you go doesn't even matter if you get it wrong, at least you'll have tried.

Agreed Accyman, I know of someone walking the streets of accrington right now who has been accused by two separate under 13 year old girls of rape, if I were to name him, would that be OK? of course not, So why can the press just because he`s famous?

Just thinking back to the claires law thread where it was discussed about releasing names of people that have only been accused. Perhaps if an accusation had got so far that they could have legally been named in the press, then they could be on the list.

Two years after this alleged offence by Mr Roach, there was a tremendous media storm

He admitted guilt before he died

All that mat tered was winning; GEORGE CARMAN, QC, WAS BLINKERED TO THE PLEASURES OF LIFE, FOR HIM . . . - Free Online Library

"Carman was most irked at the later behaviour of Coronation Street actor Peter Adamson, aka Coronation Street's Len Fairclough, after the barrister successfully defended him against charges of indecently molesting young girls. In a boozy interview sometime afterwards, Liverpool-born Adamson, who died last week, admitted his guilt. "

This link is from 1999 and shows his daughter was born in April 67, which coincides with the months when the alleged offences took place. Not getting your oats at home is no excuse for underage sex.

I've just changed my selection on the Forts Arms Death Club from Kirk Douglas to Stuart Hall. I reckon he will top himself sometime soon.

In Japan they 'fall on the sword' for a lot less.

Rolf Harris is in and out of a mental health clinic like a yo-yo.
Maybe he is hoping for some sympathy for his mental suffering:rolleyes:

He lived at Piper Hollin House which is the bungalow at the side of Sykeside House. I know he was there in 1967 as a relative of mine lived in the cottages next door and when they moved in after getting married in 67 he was there then.

i think a lot of it will rely on confessions and how well they can handle been interigated and stuck in a cell

there is a possability evidence was kept by victims parents such as clothing like what monica lewinski did with bill clinton and her dress.

I lived in Hassy from 78 to 86 and I often saw him outside the front door of the house, think he left Hassy prior to me leaving.

I honestly think that in sex allegation charges, if both the accuser and the accused had anonymity, until after the case was finished, more of this type of case would see justice, if there was a not guilty verdict nobodies character need be blackened, needlessly. If a guilty plea is reached that's the time of the media to have their field day, or has innocent until proved guilty gone out the window

one thing that has crossed my mind when thinking about this is back in the 60's and 70's your uncle c ould pinch your bum and say wotcha fella or girl

these days it would be sexual abuse

if someone says you grabbed their bum in 1966 can you be charged in 2013 with sexual assault ?

im not saying this is what ken barlow has been accused of it just made me think of how years ago something would be innocent and friendly but now a serious crime

Stuart Hall has shown some degree of decency by (maybe a plea bargain?) pleading guilty. Perhaps some of the other deniers should think carefully and do likewise.

i know its people from both channel of tv been arrested but with the bbc covering up saville it does make you wonder how much the bbc actually covered up as more come out the woodwork

maybe its time to disassociate government from the bbc and letthem fend for themsleves and see how much hush they can buy when they have to fund themselves

in effect the bbc used the publics money to cover up the public been sexualy abused

time to do away with the bbc its obviously corrpt to the core

not having to buy a tv licence would be nice also

Nothing at all to do with innocent and friendly get real accyman. It's all about inapropriate acts, taking advantage by behaviour that denigrate, erode a persons self esteem and worth and if was out in the open would make most clear minded people feel uncomfortable.

sorry didnt i make it clear i wasnt saying this was anything to do with ken roach infact i thought it was pretty clear i was pondering how it would be handled if something that was acceptable in 1970 was done in 1970 and complained about as a crime in 2013

a bit like how you used to be able to smack a child to punish it in 1970 you get done for GBH in 2013.If i did what my mum did to me to my kids i would be in prison but back then it was acceptable punishment to hit a child with a slipper

another example is tha tthese days if you take a picture of your child in teh baby bath you can end up in trouble with teh police where as people of my generation see them as embarrassing pictures your mom shows your girlfriend

No case to answer if it wasn`t a crime when it was done.

Common sense says not, an example I read while looking this up was, imagine abortion to become illegal, would everyone who has had an abortion or taken part be prosecuted. Most, if not all of us has done something in the past that is now illegal, travelling in a car without wearing seatbelt is a good example.

Depends on who's common sense, using an emotive subject such as abortion is extreme, even the unfortunate women that 'miscarry' will in technical terms have aborted!

Then again something as simple as a seat belt, is not a good example, like everything in life, these things happen.

Smoking illegally, wearing or not wearing a seat belt or even 'legally removing a child from your own body' cannot be used as examples compared to removing another persons childhood even IF they are willing partners, (I do have a proviso in this, if the child for example became pregnant by the actions of a child of the same age, should they both be condemned by society? God, back then in puberty just about everyone wanted to...).

Odd :( how not so long ago he was claiming that sex abuse victims were getting karma for past lives...now looks like he's getting a bit of the old karma for his sins.

Coronation Street Ken Barlow actor Bill Roache causes fury by claiming sex abuse victims are punished for sins in past lives - Mirror Online

The problem with this karma argument is - that millions of kids starve every year - now if that is karma?, then what life where they in before to get this karma - if the population was much less even a few 100 years ago. Basically there arn't enough life times to get all this so-called karma!

Its a good job we this ain't in the good old US of A all these cases would fall on the Statute of Limitations, only murder has no limit on when charges can be brought against an accused. Well that's my understand, although there could be other instances, which I'm unaware of

You`re absolutely right Less, I need to word my posts more carefully on such a sensitive issue. I was of course referring to induced abortions. Not trying to start a debate on it either, just a point that if some people had there way it would be illegal.
