Breast feeding in public
Well I've yet to be offended by breast feeding, no matter where I've witnessed it, so either I'm a sick person or those offended are just perhaps narrow minded.

There were provided facilities, just like there are provided toilets, lets all ignore the provided facilities and do what the hell we want! In fact how about letting mothers feed their child whilst belting down the motorway. Yet more PC madness |
Re: Breast feeding in public
Is it a question merely of breastfeeding; or is the issue more one of a woman's being bare breasted in public? In Ontario, it is legal for women to go topless in public, altho' hardly any choose to do so.
Women's topless court victory 20 years later - Politics - CBC News It's still illegal for women to go topless in the rest of Canada; but that is probably because nobody has challenged provincial and municipal laws. I have no doubt that the Supreme Court would, on a challenge, strike down any law prohibiting a woman's right to go topless in public if she so wishes. Such laws are in clear violation of an individual's rights under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. |

As for the rest of your post...As your average pervy weirdo male, I love the semi naked sights of Summer. I'll twist my neck, take surreptitious glances etc..etc.. It's strange though. If I go swimming, I'm oblivious to the scantily clad females around me, same when I'm in a topless bar or beach abroad. Guess I'm a sociologists dream...imagination is better than reality?? |

Re: Breast feeding in public
This is the story according to the daily fail.
Was lifeguard right to order mother Stephanie Wilby to stop breastfeeding her son in swimming pool? | Mail Online And another from the daily fail for comparison. Lifeguard demands mother, 20, stops breastfeeding her son at public swimming pool because she is breaking the ban on food and drink | Mail Online The first one to my mind seems to be a matter of looking for compo, although not specifically mentioned, the underlying theme, humiliation, embarrassment seem to point in one direction. As to the second, deary me "I know my rights", but obviously not interested in social graces & the accompanying responsibilities. Now, let the lively debate ensue. |
Re: Breast feeding in public
and in any case the child she was feeding wasn't doing the swimming.

Re: Breast feeding in public
the way i see it is....would you feed your child with a baby bottle in a swimming pool? no, so why feed it in there full stop?
would you feed you're older kids chicken twizzlers (or whatever they are called) in a public pool? i highly doubt it nowt wrong with breast feeding, but keep it somewhere hygeinic |
Re: Breast feeding in public
Well if everyone was doing it we might be swimming in breast milk rather than water... :P

Re: Breast feeding in public
Perhaps she had visions of her child growing up as beautiful as Cleopatra - wait a minute, Cleopatra allegedly bathed in the milk of an Ass, there again it might just be in the spelling or pronunciation.

Of course that is a stupid place to breast feed, just as free fall parachuting would also be an inappropriate position in which to perform the act but if it happened no doubt that too would make the news. Breast feeding itself, nothing whatsoever wrong with it, only needs common sense, on the part of the mother and anyone witnessing it. :) |
