Breast feeding in public

There was an item on the breakfast news this morning regarding Breast Feeding, it seems a woman was asked to get out of the water at a swimming pool, in, I think Manchester because she was breast feeding her child in the water. It appears some women are going to have a protest outside these baths in support of this woman. Now I'm certainly not against breast feed, if that's what a mother wants to do, but come on, in a swimming pool, seems like mummy is a half a pork pie short of a picnic to me, there are places to breast feed but stood or sat in a swimming pool certainly ain't one of um:rolleyes:

I saw that Jaysay, I breast fed all three of my kids but I wouldn't have dreamt of doing it in the middle of a public swimming pool. Also, I read that the baby was seventeen months old, a toddler. There is no way she couldn't have managed to arrange that child's feed around the time in the pool. I wondered whether the mother was trying to make a point or attention seeking.

Can't really see a problem with it, watched my missus, my daughter, my DIL, do exactly that, where on Earth is breastfeeding not natural?
Surely, without it our species will die out?

breast feeding is natural

standing in a public swimming pool slapping your boob out isnt no matter if feeding a child or not

not saying she should hide while doing it but jesus christ it seems shes more about the "i can do what i want where i please and stuff anyone else" rather than " my poor mite is hugry i better feed it "

i suppose this woman would think it ok to stand in teh middle of a zebra crossing breast feeding because breast feeding is natural despite been in everyones way blocking traffic

17 Months seems to be quite a long time (but hey, what do I know? I'm a Bloke :)) & on top of that the little beggar would be taking in all that chlorine too, now I'm pretty certain that's not good.

What a load of balls, without which by the way, she wouldn't need to be breast feeding.

Instead of criticizing we should be praising the fact that she is actually performing a female function rather than denying the feminine role that is something women should be proud of.

Both men and women have their natural functions, neither should be disparaged for fulfilling their role.
:)

its natural to urinate i wouldnt do that in a swimming pool....

anymore :)

you dont seem to be able to comprehend that people arnt objecting to women breast feeding in public but as to this twerps choice

been too lazy and selfish to get out of a public swimming pool seems to be been applauded

reproduction is normal but they put no petting signs up and besides its just common courtesy not to shove your buisness in everyone elses faces

Yes, but sometimes fulfilling your role (male or female) ,unless it's unavoidable, doesn't mean slapping it out in public. A little decorum is called for sometimes. And as this child was seventeen months old I assume it has gone on to solids quite some time ago and the breast is more of a comfort than sustenance. Therefore, I think the mother might have waited until she'd left the pool before giving in to her child's demands.

pretty much it

my old workmates wife ran infact still runs a breast feeding awareness group that had or may still actually have government backing and i doubt despite backing public breast feeding %100 she would support this

ill ask her next time we cross paths

i have an e-gig which is legal almost everywhere unlike smoking but i ask them around me if they mind before fireing pretend smoke out of mi gob if its an eclosed space

again common courtesy

Re: Breast feeding in public

I am all for women performing this natural function...but I feel the swimming pool is not the place, and for no other reason than it is unsafe.
If I read the article correctly the woman had taken the 17 month old to learn to swim , but was handed her other 4 month old child to feed, this, whilst still in the pool.why couldn't she have got out and gone somewhere safer(like a pool side seat) to perform this function...or better still...what is wrong with expressed breast milk for such an occasion...it is still breast milk and has all the benefits of the fresh stuff, but is more convenient at times like this.

I fed my daughter until she was 10 months old, but would not have dreamed of doing it in a public place..mind you, the world was a different place back in the iron age!

I'm also not against feeding in a public place and I think the lifeguard was right to ask her to leave the water. I'm now wondering if he would have stopped the mother taking the child back into the pool directly after it had fed because of the known danger of cramping up and drowning when bathing within an hour of having a meal.

Our studio audience says ...... Uh-ah! Bit of an urban Myth that one LG. :) Studies seem to have de-bunked that particular old wives tale.
