Good to hear that, but someone thought I was giving you hassle, it wasn`t a nasty sort of message in any way, just a misunderstanding by someone and as it was through Karma so I don`t know who it was so couldn`t message them back.:)

ah well you see neil if I do harass him I normally either do it in a pm or in the railway .. if in a pm it cant be put on here .. in the railway normally ends up buying a pint and im forgiven ... and the bus was standing still he'd have to pick his bus driver .. cos some of em still know me from when I worked there so if its one that don't know me im safe ... if its one that knows me .. then theres a chance he would drive over me .... :p

I agree ... esp. on the being talked down to thingy. I'm not unintelligent ... don't you just love English and its nuanced meanings:D. And I dislike being treated as a moron ... or a mormon for that matter. Problem with arguing about, say, religion with a born again Christian is that one always runs into his/her bottom line: the Bible is the word of God. The beauty of the language in the King James version, I can enjoy. I can go along with the beatitudes. I understand that much of the Bible is metaphor, the parables come immediately to mind ... my good friend, the late Father Bob Ogle, S.J., humanitarian and confirmed socialist had an interesting take on Job, a very problematic book.

Discussing politcs has its pitfalls too. Ideology becomes dogma. Party becomes truth ... a "truth" that views contending political truths as lies ... an interesting distortion of meaning ususally based on spurious logic.

But, bottom line for me is: I just can't resist offering a little ridicule to anyone who talks down to me.;)

Eric, I would never talk down to you.
I respect other forum members for their input to threads....I respect them for their differing views, which are usually interesting and borne of life experience......but every now and then someone comes along and wants to monopolise, to imply that their ideas, beliefs are the right ones, the only ones. Then things can get personal and sometimes even a bit nasty.

And before you tell me that you were not meaning that I had talked down to you(well, at least that is what I hope).......I know!

Have I missed him?...not a lot. I do hope it wasn't anything we said.
