A pain in the proverbial.

If you think that a forum member is being a pain in the proverbial(and I have no-one particular in mind when I say this) the answer is simple....just stop posting to that thread.

Take away the oxygen of interest.

I know it is sometimes hard to do this.......and I have often promised to sign myself out of thread and then found myself wandering back to have another shot.

While ever there are posters, the pain in the butt will continue to answer them...and things can get a bit silly.
Painful poster(PP's) will not talk to themsleves.
You know it makes sense...and makes less work for the Mods.(after all they have day jobs)

It is hard...and I have fallen a number of times....my excuse.....Old Timers Disease.
It is SO easy to be drawn back by a comment or an aside. To forget that you have signed yourself out of a thread....
But I am going to make a sterling effort.

Re: A pain in the proverbial.

Whilst I agree with not giving these people a reason to post, we have seen all too often in the past, them starting threads and simply invading other threads in the desire to be noticed.
While I personally do not have any issue with anyones belief's, I do not want to bebbombarded and spoken down to on a regular basis.
So I cannot promise to keep Stum.
Sorry

That is alright Si.
I am just trying to be balanced about how some posters seem to take over with threads that become very negative.
It really does put some posters off coming to the site.
It is just a suggestion....not an instruction......I would never have the temerity to tell people what to do.

I hope it`s OK I do this, but someone sent me a karma message but didn`t leave any clue who it was. They think I was hassling you with my reply Margaret, I think/hope you know I wasn`t but would like them to know also.:)

Why don't you all put him on your ignore list, that way what ever thread he tries to spoil, his posts will never be seen. Easy & simple end to the problem.

Sorry... actually I'm quite enjoying the thread in question...

I understand what you are getting at, hon; but I just can't resist posting when I am confronted with pompous ignorance.:D

I didn't think you were hassling me at all. I don't take affoence so easily from someone whose posts I respect.
If I thought you were hassling me I would sort it with a PM...the best way in the world(not open warfare on the forum).

I was particular not to mention anyone by name or any post for that matter....this thread relates to all posters who make a nuisnace of themsleves...and then posts get very childish and negative......it is easy to solve don't answer them...if you are enjoying the thread then this advice/suggestion, whatever you want to call it, doesn't apply.

This is a flawed system, because frequently the replies will add a quote...like I am doing here, so you DO see what the Pain in the Butt poster is saying.
The end of the problem is not giving them the attention that they so dearly crave.....because most of them are attention seeking egotists.
They are not really interested in adding to the forum....they just take away...because some members will be put off posting.

As I said previously...this is just a suggestion...it is up to you as an individual what to do with it..if you think it needs file 13 them put it there.:):)

and get wound up in turn, then you find the post turning nasty and making work for the mods...who need to step in and keep the peace.
