This appeared on Face Book under Hyndburn Chat, below is my responce.

There is just TWO things wrong with this banner, both those groups of men are CHORLEY COY THEY NEVER CONSIDERED THEMSELVES AS ACCRINGTON PALS, JUST AS BURNLEY COY NEVER DID. I CAN NAME 14 of the MEN in that group next to Rickman. ALSO 584 KILLED AND WOUNDED is WAY OFF. THIS IS THE SORT OF DISPLAY YOU GET WHEN YOU LET AMATEURS BECOME INVOLVED.

There is supposed to be a committee set up to organise all this, I don't think our resident MP is involved in it, and only a couple of councillors.

Excuse me? Is Retlaw not part of the public? He's noticed, if the Council are going to do something, they should at least do it right.

Not surprising really ... we live in a world where Duck Dynasty is reality, Lady Gaga is a singer, a politician's image is more important than his substance, and tweeting is social contact:rolleyes: Y'all could probably think of more. Historical accuracy doesn't matter to most folks. As long as the banner is big, glitzy, and has pics of soldiers in period uniforms it will pass muster. C'mon was a little off in his comment, but one has to admit that folks won't care as long as it looks good.:mad: Sad.

I believe a committee with a couple of councillors are sorting out the commemorations and the photos came from respected member of the committee.

Then perhaps another committee needs to be set up of disrespected perfectionists and assigned to the job of quality control of all other Council 'Committees'?
Whatever happened to the concept of:-

If a jobs worth doing it's worth doing well.

Less awaits a reply, telling him that 95% of Hyndburns Electorate don't understand or care how a committee works and that if we take the results so far, the said committee are doing an excellent job of wasting the limited resources at their disposal.
Well all I can say is I respect Retlaw's knowledge of the subject far more than any committee doing a half ass job.

Thats it in a nutshell, one who has spent many years researching n working on this issue, is FAR more knowledgeable on the subject,than one who perhaps does things cos they happen to be fashionable n gain brownie points?? Perhaps brownie points only count if they are from people who know nowt or know very little? But their position in life makes em deny things.:D;)
