Re: Dorothy Duxbury B.E.M.
Margaret, I'm so glad you decided to put your loss on a thread. Not everyone reads the blogs and I'm sure a lot on Accyweb will want to share their thoughts on your loss.
It must have left a big hole in your life, you were so close to your mother. My thoughts are with you. |

I have almost picked the phone up to remind her of TV programs that I know she would enjoy at least three times in the past week...And I cannot bear to delete her number from my phone. |

I would encourage everyone to read my blogs....it would put a smile on their chops...well, most of them would. |
Re: Dorothy Duxbury B.E.M.
I just read an interesting quote "Its not what you have in your life, its who you have in your life that matters" I reckon that very much applied to you Margaret.

Re: Dorothy Duxbury B.E.M.
I don't know where she is.
I know not where she's gone. I only hope where e're it is, there's Sea and sand and sun. I hope there are flowers that bloom, And birds that sing in trees, I hope there is soft music, Drifting on the breeze. I only know she is not lost, In fact I think she's found... And I must not shed salty tears Because she's not around. She sits in the departure lounge, Her boarding pass in hand. Flying Celestial Airways Out to the Promised land. Those she love are waiting, All gathered in a crowd. They cannot wait to greet her They're happy and they are proud The arrivals door will open They'll shout, they'll clap and cheer. They will fling their arms around her.... Saying 'Dorothy is here!' These are two verses that I composed to send to family members to comfort them. |

Re: Dorothy Duxbury B.E.M.
Thank you both of you.
She was a very special person who touched many lives. |
Re: Dorothy Duxbury B.E.M.
What a wonderful tribute to your mother, Margaret. Take comfort from the messages sent to you by the Accrington Web family at this very sad time, knowing that they really do care.
Take comfort also in the knowledge that you did all you could for your mother, you took such good care of her and gave her so much of your time. Now take some time for yourself. My thoughts are with you. |
Re: Dorothy Duxbury B.E.M.
Thank you Dorothy for your words of encouragement.
There is still much to do...and there will come a time when all that is ravelled is knitted up...and I will have time on my hands...the time I spent doing things for Ma. At present, I am grateful for the distractions that doing things to tie up MA's affairs takes up. I will take time when it is all done and dusted. M x |
Re: Dorothy Duxbury B.E.M.
Margaret your poems are beautiful. I am sure they have been a comfort to your family.
When my dad passed away a Commodore in the Royal Navy sent me the following poem which gave me comfort. Mt dad had been in the navy. What is dying? A ship sail and I stand watching till she fades on the horizon and someone by my side says 'She is gone'. Gone where ? Gone from my sight that is all. She is just as large as when I saw her. The dimimished size and total loss of sight is in me not in her And just at that moment when someone says 'She is gone.' There are others who are watching her coming and other voices take up the glad shout 'There she comes' And that is dying. Not as personal as your verses but the same sentiment. |
Re: Dorothy Duxbury B.E.M.
So sorry to hear of your loss, Margaret. Many condolences to you and your family.

Re: Dorothy Duxbury B.E.M.
Rowlf...yes...I have seen that poem too. it was written by a Bishop(whose name escapes me just now) and it is a paraphrase of that.
It was what Ma believed would happen. Thank you Steve...I thought Ma was invincible. When she was lying at the bottom of the stairs with a fracture hip...she kept telling the ambulance lads that 'There's nowt wrong wi' me...it's not broken'....and initially refusing pain relief...well, until we tried to move her that is. My life is going to be poorer for her not being there...but she left me a rich legacy...not in money, but in memories and experiences. |
