Day 46: Cinnabar Moth, one of several I spotted in my yard.

Last year I had hundreds of cinnabar moth caterpillars chomping on the dozen or so Ragwort plants that suddenly popped up. Ragwort is poisonous as are the caterpillars and moths. In fact there were so many caterpillars that I collected 4 lots of around 100 caterpillars in a tub and moved them to places I'd seen lots of Ragwort growing.

Day 48: A Walk in the park, Oak Hill Park Accrington, it was owned by Thomas Hargreaves, head of the Broad Oak Print Works in 1815. In 1889 the estate belonged Reginald Gervis Hargreaves, who was married to Alice Liddell, the model for Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’. It was opened as a park in 1893...

Day 50: A selection of bugs

1. A fly but not sure what variety... apparently it's possibly a St Marks Fly. Latin name is Bibio marci.
2. Crane Fly
3. Young Shield Bug. Not sure if that's it's dinner or just shed it's skin?

Thwaites or Sam Smiths, still produce a pleasant enough pint of Dark Mild.
Used to get Sam Smiths in the "Greyhound" on Whalley drive down the road from the Stanley ground, last time I was over unfortunately the place had closed up.

The Greyhound is still closed up. My Dad was the steward at the Top Club across the junction around 1988-89

I love the picture of Oakhill park....and the history bit as well. (My grandpa worked at Broad oak printworks)......I love, love, love the poppy....brilliant shot would look lovely blown up. Printed on canvas and hung on a lounge room wall.....or framed in black and on a wall.
