go out just after 7. you must be lucky as i do not know where all these dogs i see now have come from. i,ve gone back to driving a couple of miles back up to the moors to get some distance from folks. know i,ll get some stick for this but its hardly doing a 120 mile round trip to morecambe to do it.

I cannot see the problem in driving to somewhere like the moors....you are encapsulated in a vehicle....you are going where there is little likelihood of meeting anyone.....and if by chance you did, there is more than enough room to keep the required six metres distance......and yes I know someone will say 'well, if we all decided to do that'.....except that is not going to happen is it.
The other issue is I guess....if you were to come a cropper and either get lost or hurt yourself....but again with sensible precautions....what's the harm?

When all this is over....I am going to donate three carrier bags full of books to the charity shops(they will be steam sanitised before donation).

was told by one person that i may be involved in an accident which would divert resources needed elsewhere. if you thought like that you,d never go out in the first place even when the present situation ends.

I 'get' that concept, but like you feel that life has to be lived.
How many people go for a secluded walk with nothing more dangerous in it than a midge bite or a grumbly sheep to deal with.

LIVE CHEERFUL, NOT FEARFULL

Re: when all this is over....

When this is over I worry that some people will find it very hard to socialise once again, especially those who have been completely on their own for a number of weeks. Having to presently keep our distance it might not be easy to rub shoulders with people again, or at least for a while.

This was brought home to me yesterday when my friend asked me if I would go with her to a local shopping centre just to get out of the house for a little while. We have been doing everything right so I didn’t feel guilty when I accepted her offer and when we arrived at the shops there were quite a lot of people there. However, when I looked at the others walking around I decided I couldn’t be bothered to be one of them, I didn’t want to join in, so I just stayed in the car while my friend did what she had to do. It wasn’t through any sense of fear of catching the virus, merely a lack of interest in the people and of going into the shops.

Now I like to think I am generally a strong-minded person but while I was sitting there I wondered that if I felt this way how will a less confident person feel once this is over. Will they have lost confidence to go out and about, to talk to other people? I think it will take time and a lot of understanding, though I hope I am wrong.

think it could go one way or another for me. go to a local over 50,s club with about 20 odd turning up. think there could be more or less turning up once it kicks off again. people do get out of the habit of doing things no matter what they are. will we all go out shopping again as we used to do. will we still have days out. will some realize there is life away from pubs. will be an interesting few months when we do get back to normal.

Dorothy...I think you might be right.
Our next door neighbour, over many years, (since the death of his wife)isolated himself.
He simply 'forgot' how to socialise.
I went in to see him every day, but found that getting any kind of conversation out of him was difficult.

Then when he was in hospital, he was thrown in to mix of people.
Those who were looking after him, and the other men in his bay.
He became happier, more talkative in fact it was like a different man.

When we isolate, we remove from our lives things that make for good talking points.

I don't think I will have much problem with being let loose...in fact I cannot wait!

I suppose it depends on what kind of 'normal' the powers that be allow us to pursue.

When this is over - I will be drinking a different brand of tea. During the shelf shortage I had to buy the single brand that was available at the time and it turns out that I prefer it.
