Strange but true, many set off knowing full well they are poor or non swimmers, yet still they make the attempt. I know my view on such folly & as such I'll let others come to their own conclusions.

Further update on this story.
The lad had a blow up boat and struck it with the shovel(seeing as spade is unacceptable) this cut the inflatable causing it to deflate rapidly.
Aaah, so sad, never mind.

Yes Margaret, I can see how the loss of a perfectly good inflatable would upset you.

(I once got an infraction from the moderators on here for calling a spade a spade! Well, I had to call him something, they wouldn't let me call him Nig...).

A three foot inflatable with two young men in it.....blooming heck it wasn't big enough to be a life jacket.....but they wanted to cross the channel in it.
Blessed with sense, they weren't.
How many non hostile countries did this young man travel through to get to France?
Countries where he could have been safe.....but because he thought England was a soft touch.

We should stop being a soft touch...use the French model.
Maybe then they would not come.

Maybe if we weren't a soft touch they wouldn't run the perils of crossing such a dangerous Country as France to get here?

It does detract a little from the original heart tugging story.

Indeed they did, unfortunately the name Nigel has for some reason become associated with white privilege so can no longer be used without racial consideration.

Now there's a phrase we could all rally around, racial consideration the allowing for the fact that although we are all human, racial culture does make us all a little bit different.

people really need to be careful of their heart nowadays. with it being tugged, its strings being pulled{whatever they are in the first place** and actually sending them out everywhere to all and sundry we could have a problem. can the NHS actually manage these new heart problems along with the con flu.
