I realise it’s been a few days since you posted about the price of those carrots, monkey hanger, but I had to convert the answer to Australian dollars to make the comparison of prices from over there to here and I’m a bit slow these days. Wow! The whole lot only cost just over a dollar – what a bargain. I’d suggest you go and buy a crate full at that price.

Regarding the Nigerian prince. I wonder if he’s the same one who wrote to me about a large inheritance that I had been left by someone I had never heard of. He had it ready to give me - all he needed were my bank details to deposit the money into. I was so overwhelmed with the generosity of the unknown benefactor I sent word to the prince telling him to forget giving the money to me but to distribute it amongst the poor.

I felt good afterwards when I thought about all those who would benefit from my very generous philanthropic gesture. Strange thing is that I didn’t get a reply or even a ‘thank you’, but that’s the way it goes. On second thoughts I should have told this Nigerian bloke to spend some of it on English lessons – his spelling was atrocious.

yes, follow amazon and be equally successful in paying less tax. think the 24 hour opening is a gimick anyway. paying even a skeleton staff between 10pm and 6am has to be paid for and thats by customers who shop at normal hours. as for home deliveries, i do not want my cold or frozen food stuck in the back of a van for hours before they get to me. cut down on stuff and shop local.

The vans have a chiller compartment for cold and frozen, I've been using home delivery for sometime and find it bloody marvelous, no, self service tills, no, staff looking like a wet weekend and wishing their shift was over and best of all no miserable and awkward customers like me to have to put up with.
Shop local? I would have to switch to hal al bacon for a start, no more pork pies either, the local shops are for people that originated in far away places.

This was once a similar area, but it isn't all bad I can shut my front door and it becomes almost like living in England.;)

Annoying are clothing labels that scratch and cause itching and discomfort. Not always can they be removed easily. Not sure if it's the thread they use to attach these labels that is the culprit or the label itself.

Less, regarding home deliveries. While I think it has a lot of merit for people who can't (or don't want to) get to the shops, do you find that you only get the dearest of the item you ask for? Do you get 'specials'? I think the drawback might be that you can't actually shop around for bargains. Maybe you find the benefits are worth not being able to do this.

I can understand what you mean about the ownership of local food shops - it is the same here, though sometimes variety can be the spice of life, literally. You don't need to travel overseas to experience other countries 'gastronomical delights' (???) - we have them all here.

I could be a complete snob and reply with:-

'Good heavens woman, of course I always get the dearest',

however I do have an orifice that is so tight it squeaks when I walk, so yes there are specials, and clubcard specials and if I were to dig deep enough a virtual 'whoops aisle'. (this is created whenever I apply my ten thumbs to the keyboard).

Most of the larger supermarkets had a night crew even back in the day when they shut at 8pm. The only reason they weren't 24 hours back then was because they weren't allowed to. Unfortunately with global demands (people must have their Morrocan Raspberries and Quinoa flown in from far flung shores) local retail just can't compete. Even Booths were struggling not so long back.

what do i find frustrating ... why does the batteries run out in my camera just as im about to take a photo .. and when ive changed the batteries .. the bird has flown off, the sunset has changed, the dark clouds have moved in, the dog has moved, do i need to go further on that one? :p

trying to get a hospital appointment at a time that means i dont have to leave home at 6.30am to get there for 9an, when you explain that you dont drive and have to get public transport ... :p

the lids on jars .. i agree with that one .. i couldnt open a jar for over 2 months this year when i did my shoulder in .. and still can only open them 2 out of 5 .. stabbing with a knife breaks the seal .. :D

my glasses steaming up when wearing the mask .. not all the time .. especially when crossing roads, or getting off the bus or when trying to read a label in the shop ...

im like you Margaret i could go on and on .. :p
