The Authorities in the States must have some pretty good evidence to bring a case.....but again I think it is just a huge media circus, and it will probably have a similar outcome to the OJ thing.

How do you get an unbiased jury for something of this scale.?.....you would have to have been living on the moon not to have heard something about the case.

Re: The Biggest Court Case Ever.......

i THINK THE DIFFICULTY WILL BE THAT WITH A TRIAL THAT IS FORCAST TO LAST 6 MONTHS ONLY TWO TYPES OF JURORS WILL BE AVAILABLE. 1.THE WELFARE CASES WHO WISH TO BE FED AND WATERED FOR 6 MONTHS, WITH EXPENCES. AND 2. THOSE WHO JUST WANT TO SAY THAT THEY WERE ON THE JACJSON JURY, AND THE OUTCOME REALLY DOES NOT MATTER TO THEM.

Re: The Biggest Court Case Ever.......

you could well be right there. There must be a helluva lot of evidence if they think the trial will last so long.

Vorlon, I don't think you quite understood what I meant there. Those kids didn't just use words to refer to intimate parts of the body - if that was all then yes you'd be perfectly correct in saying that they would probably know those words anyway and not have learned them from him. What I said was that they have been able to describe those parts. i.e. they must have seen them in order to be able to describe specific characteristics which then were confirmed by police investigation. This means that at the very least they must have seen him naked.

I am still undecided on this case. Michael Jackson said that he only slept in the same bed as them, that nothing actually happened. I am probably not that good a judge of character, but I found myself believing him, implausible though it sounds.
Yes, I see your point here and I even saw his point when he said it, but would anyone, even the parents of those children, be happy for their sons to sleep in the same bed as any other middle aged man? I certainly wouldn't.

Maybe he feels he is trying to relive his lost childhood, but is going the wrong way about it.
Yes, I think you've hit one particular nail on the head here. He does sound as if he is trying to recreate a childhood he never had and he doesn't seem to have any perception of what is and is not acceptable in normal society.

Hell, I go to bed and most nights nothing happens - I sleep, then I wake up! Then the kids come in and jump on me!!!
Ah yes, but in this case they are your kids and they jump on you in the morning when you wake up. My girls do the same with me but I would never, never, never dream of inviting someone else's daughter to share my bed!

Also it was interesting to note psychologists' analyses of the Martin Bashir interview where the boy was holding Michael Jackson's hand and gazing up at him with puppy dog eyes.

I tend to agree with that because I don't think they'd have gone to all this trouble for nothing. It sounds like they'd been waiting to pounce again ever since Jordy Chandler was paid off.

Presumably they couldn't act until someone else complained.

We have no idea what they found when they raided the Neverland ranch but it must have convinced them it was worthwhile going ahead with things.

I don't think they'll be able to find people who haven't heard of Michael Jackson in the very least and presumably also will have heard of the previous complaint and pay-off and quite probably the Martin Bashir interview too. What the members of the jury will have to be able to do is judge only on the evidence presented to them in court and not on any preconcieved ideas which is going to be tricky.

Personally I feel that so far we have no evidence that he has abused any child physically or that he has had a sexual relationship with any underaged youth, but what we do have is a man in his 40s going to bed with (even if that only involves sleeping with) young boys to whom he is not related and at least one of those boys has seen him naked and been able to describe his anatomy in enough detail to convince the police that he has seen him naked.

Now for me that is just not acceptable. It's not normal and it shouldn't have happened.

i KNOW AND AGREE BUT WE WILL NEVER KNOW THE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING WHAT HAPPENED AS I SAID EARLIER I WOULD HATE TO HAVE TO MAKE A DECISION ON IT .

Re: The Biggest Court Case Ever.......

Well I presume we'll learn more as the case progresses. If I were on the jury I would make my decision based on what happens in court. That is all they can do.

It's interesting that his good friend Uri Geller said that he advised him not to sleep with the boys but he didn't take the advice.

Referring to an entirely different person who has openly admitted having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a child he explained it by saying it was an expression of his love for the child, that sharing bodies was the most meaningful thing to show love. Well yes it is, but not love between a child and an adult. That is an expression of love between two adults. I just use that as an illustration of how a paedophile can have a totally different understanding of normality.
