Yeah? Recycle this then!

Your chance to sock it to the people who have dis-organised the refuse collection is approaching. For a week starting on Monday 21st February they will be out and about in a dinky little caravan, which they call a "Roadshow" (groan!). On hand to answer your questions will be Officers from from both the Recycling and Waste Services Departments.

How nice! I wonder if they are aware of the storm of abuse they will be letting themselves in for?

Anyway, you can make the most of this opportunity to seize them by the throat and make them listen at the following locations:

Monday 21st Feb.
a.m. Church St. (outside the library), Church.
p.m. Henry St. (alongside bottle banks), Church.

Tuesday 22nd Feb.
a.m. Junction of Pickup St. & Charter St. Acc.
p.m. Dale St. (alongside Hynd Brook House).

Wednesday 23rd Feb.
all day Garbett Street P.O. (Willow!)

Thursday 24th Feb.
a.m. Christchurch Square
p.m. Edmund St. junction with Napier St.

Friday 25th Feb.
a.m. Portland St. Community Centre.
p.m. Swiss St. Acc.

Have fun!:D

The people at the cleansing dept on Corporation St obviously are!
4 weeks after having my wheelie bin stolen - when it was full I might add, can you believe it! - and after several phone calls and no joy, I decided to go down there and complain. When I got there what happened? There was a list of numbers on the counter to ring and talk to them by phone! Carefully watched by a CCTV camera. I ask you.:(

I eventually got my replacemen bin, along with a letter letting me know basically that if someone pinches it again I have to fork out 50 quid! Charming.
Apparently help is on the way though - in the form of a crack wheelie bin hunting team. They search yards and gardens for households with more than the required number of wheelie bins or with the wrong numbered wheelie bin!

"Lessen the likelyhood of having your wheelie bin stolen by returning it to your property as soon as possibly after it has been emptied", they say. Bit difficult if you're working, as it it is to get to one of these amazing road shows me thinks.

Hey a-b.............what about "OSSY", need to have a word with PB on this one, missing out our leaders ward..........Oh dear :bingobang

Thanks A-b but from the number of times I've complained when they've left rubbish to blow about the streets and end up in my front garden I am totally cynical about how much effect any meeting with this roadshow is likely to have.

If I'm not too busy I may pootle over and have a look at one.

And here they are, snapped this morning in the Plantation Street area by yours truly. I'll bet the people at Radio One are green with envy.

Looks like an oxymoron........Willow.

but just to comment as I am not involved in the Hyndburn wheelie bin saga if they are going to charge you 50 quid if someone steals your bin then you go and steal someone elses. I know that when I was in the Airforce we had to always wear a beret outside, so inside you removed it 5 times out of 10 it would be stolen, delemia outside without and get in deep poo or steal someone elses........ a continous circle, theory The Airforce issued a few less berets then people, eventually some fool would get caught and have to buy a new one (not this fool) maybe the same with Hyndburn.

Walking about this morning I was surprised at the number of abandoned wheelie bins scattered about the place. They seemed to be as numerous as shopping trollys used to be. Maybe they are this years "must have" toy.
As in: "We went out wheelie binnin yesterday an it were well cool coz Wayne lost is an he as to pay fifty quid fer another PMSL!"

I have a question - where's all the snow?

We have a winter wonderland down here in Kent

Re: Yeah? Recycle this then!

Maybe Bazf is onto something. Perhaps it's Hyndborg council's new fund raising initiative - issue less wheelie bins than there are households so that eventually someone will fail to nick somebody else's and have to pay the £50, or even better, dump their rubbish in black bags and be fined £1,000.
