Little Britain........
Little Britain....fact or fiction? An hilarious parody of today's society, or a cruel parody of social stereo-types?
|
Re: Little Brtitain......
Not a personal favourite of mine but I have to admit I have found some of it hilarious. I think we’re still in the realms of the cruel parody of social stereo-types. I don’t recall actually seeing any of the characters in real life other than the girl; you see them trawling around the school gates, puffing away with their legs akimbo everywhere I suppose. It’s a sad fact that Blackpool’s the worse place for underage pregnancy and single mothers. I think up here it’s more to do with opportunity and a sense of security in benefits rather than a lack of education. I hate nothing more than to see a young good looking lass not much more than 15 or 16 pushing a pram around, more so when you start to see those looks deteriorate with the stress and hardships that follow. Such a waist to my mind, how many of those girls could have made something of there lives.

Re: Little Brtitain......
Yeah, but no, yeah Vicky Pollard is quite the most reportedly seen character. It is something we all have to do though- make decisions @ that age which'll affect the rest of your life. Of course, wanting to join the police you can always change, having a baby you can't so easily. Though Vicky would probably swap her's for a Peter Andre calender.

Re: Little Brtitain......
Yeah I suppose your right their, As for swapping it for a Peter Andre calender, nooooo not even Vicky could be that hard up.....

Re: Little Brtitain......
Yeah but no, yeah she'd be daft enough to swap her baby for last years Peter Andre calender. The baby was called Paris, after Paris Hilton, who Vicky used to hang with in L.A., on a young offenders exchange system.

However, back to the subject. I can't say I particularly like the program and some of it does come over as tasteless but I think it is more poking fun at the fact that we tend to stereotype people rather than at the people themselves. It's a bit like Alf Garnet using all those non-PC terms. The joke isn't on the people he is calling c**n and n****r the joke is on people like him who use those words and showing how stupid and bigotted people can be. |
Re: Little Brtitain......
True Warren Mitchell's politics were far from those of the character he plays. l bet Matt Lucas is sound too, DAFFYD, OOPS David Walliams, seems a more complex person, l mean Abby Titmus?
