Alick Ormerod

Evening. I know some of you know him so thought I'd post it here rather than in sport.

Sadly my Dad Alick Ormerod passed away last night at the age of 76 after a brave battle with cancer. He was a familiar face around the Lancashire League for many years and also taught at Accrington and Rossendale College.

We are hoping to hold a memorial service at some point next week after a private family funeral, I will post details later.

Re: Alick Ormerod

So sorry to hear the news Lindsay. I worked with your Dad at Rossendale College and have some very happy memories of that time.

He was one of a kind along with a couple of others who I will describe as true teachers with a passion for what they did and I am sure that lots of people will remember him with sincere affection as he did make his mark on many students who were privileged to have been taught by him.

Re: Alick Ormerod

Not only was Alick an Accrington Grammar School Old Boy, he was a Union St Methodist Old Boy, as I am. I looked up to him such a lot when I was a pre-teenage and later, envying him when he became a member of staff in Accrington Library. We've lost a good 'un.
