Re: British summertime

It's a block of flats two wide by three high. there's a block of 3 shops with houses on to the right, and a block four wide by three high the other, I decorate the lot at christmas with lights, along with the pub and barn over the road, so heights are nothing to me.

yes gayle summer solstice, mid summer, this calendar is wrong and I didn't think it through.

I'll remind you in november when it's not 22c its 5c granny claret

Yes...it has been back to vests here today. I shall put away the summer dress that is currently hanging on the wardrobe doorknob.

Tee hee, did just the same thing this morning Margaret, got out summer outfit last night, looked at temperature gauge this morning plus peek out off window, decided on winter pin-stripe suit.

One thing about us British women, we are extremely adept at last minute adaptabilities to change .. that's what makes us the best.

unionjack.gif --- Come on British women.. 'course not a slur on the chauvenistic footie flag of course.. would I ?

Re: British summertime

Windy down here too, was a bit brighter this morning then went dull, and windy and rainy. I blame mel, she sent it down here to me.

I can remember sitting out front of a restuarant opposite houses of parliament, same bank, but it was over looking the thames, over the road from where all the pleasure cruises dock, I must only have been 8, if that, can remember it like it was yesterday. we sat at a table out the front on the pavement, and had a meal, blazing sunshine. Place is long gone now, and I don't know anywhere in london you can do that now at a reasonable price.

Re: British summertime

British Summertime - Now there's an oxymoron. My wife and I were in England the last two weeks of May and the weather was bloody awful. It rained most days, it blew gales, it was cold and we even had a tornado in Hesketh Bank where we were staying with my eldest son. Of course, everyone delights in telling us that the week before we arrived was beautiful and that since we returned home on the 31st May, the sun has never stopped shining. Oh well how wonderful!!

Re: British summertime

Yes we had our Oz visitors over here then...they had two lovely weeks and then two cr*p weeks...the week before they flew back was so-so...but as soon as they had gone the sun was cracking the flags....two weeks of that and it has gone again.
Like Kate I got my winter coat out today.....put the sleeveless dress back into mothballs...I didn't suit it anyway...I've got arms that a Russian Shot putter would be proud of!
