Huge driving test scam uncovered!

The Driving Standards Agency has revealed that 'tens on thousands' of driving test applicants are using other people to sit their test.
The fraudsters stand to gain thousands of pounds in payments, some sit more than 200 test a year. The latest 'sitter' who was caught after a long investigation received 200 hours community service and £500 in fines.
Not really a deterent given the potential earnings.

You'd think so, wouldn't you ? Are all provisional/new licences that are issued now with photo's ? I still have one of the old type ones you see.

Perhaps there's some sort of scam with a fake provisional too ??

Yes,apparently fake i.D is easily made, though I think the culprits would be sent down for a while when caught.Forgery is a different ballgame.

Re: Huge driving test scam uncovered!

Did anyone see the tv program where a reporter changed his name 4 or more times by dee poll (SP) without question in a short space of time.

All above board to.

Happen the whole ID, security should be stepped up. We are Easy targets. I bet its not long term british citizans who are the main culprets after the licences.

Doesnt supprise me though the fact of hundreds of scammers, and with such tough sentences as a detterant.

Get a licence, get a car, obtain Insurance, run into the back of your friends car full of passangers and you have probably just made a years sallery (SP) for a few people.

Why me katex? I’m not against ID’s per se. I’m against having to carry one and having to produce it on demand by some jobs worth official.

However to get back on topic. I, for one, have known for more years than I care to remember that passing the driving test for someone else has been rife. Particularly amongst the immigrant community in the days when the driving license did not contain a photograph.

But today’s disclosure only highlights the sloppiness of the driving examiners.

One examiner on TV said it isn't always possible to identify people from the licence photo because people change.

Re: Huge driving test scam uncovered!

why dont they take the driving license photo and signature at the test center after passing the test , this would then be included electronically on the license by the central issuing office .

no headscarves or hijabs allowed

I wish i'd have known someone who'd have took mine - might have saved some money then!!!

(I took numerous tests - i even got failed on one that my driving instructor said i should have been passed on but she said the test centre had a new manager and wanted to get the pass rate down to 25% - and guess who my examiner was! )
