Re: Rat Horror

If the rats really get to you, move to Alberta, I hear they don't have rats.

Why can they open the lids on wheelie bins?
I would have thought a wheelie bin with a shut lid would be rat proof.

Re: Rat Horror

Rats don’t need to lift the lid. They just chew through the base.

Given time a rat can chew through bricks, cement, concrete and even metal.

Now if you had a cat this size no rat would stand a chance. To give you some idea of how big Spike was, that cabinet was 12 inches tall.

I care not if you do. I just thought better of it after I posted it thats all.

I don't bother with the emailing of messages. I get enough junk mail as it is.

ya right neil fortnightly collections have nowt to do with it!!
rats will come wheres theres food, its the messy dirty sods who cant be botherered to pick up food from the streets, and back yards!
like dog food outside, or ya could even have a rabbit !, if the foods all over the place they will come!
if theres no food they will go elsewhere, iv never had a rat in my house nor near my area...thank god!!

Re: Rat Horror

We do have rats in Kingston, but they only appear after a heavy rain puts a lot of strain on the storm sewers. Our garbage is picked up once a week, along with the blue and gray boxes. The rats don't seem to bother it, probably because there is too much competition from the other garbage lovers, the racoons, skunk (a malodorous rat) and the squirels (rats with bushy tails.) However, we are starting to have a problem with Fishers in the city ... these are rats with attitudes and a black belt in the martial arts who fight pit bulls for fun.
